Ahaliya

Ahaliyah was the drowussu mother of Chirinide. A commoner living outside of the protection of the Kyorl'solenurn fortress, she felt forsaken by both the rulers of Chel'el'sussoloth and by Sharess and felt her racial heritage little more than a burden of discrimination. On discovering a wounded light elf warrior hiding in a trash bin, she lets him persuade her to give him shelter. She falls in love with Diksavan and Mrid'dharini (Chirinide) is conceived before he recovers and returns (apparently forever) to the surface. After the child is born she works hard to conceal evidence of her parentage from the prying eyes of the authorities. When Diksavan returns some years later to take her to the surface, she is too terrified of the tales she has heard to even consider it. When he vows to return every year to try to change her mind, she goes so far as to arrange a safe meeting place, but for the next ten years continues to refuse. It is only after, Mridu (Chiri) tells her father of the visions of the death of her and her mother (that she had been telling her mother of for some time) that she finally agrees to go to the surface. Sadly, it is too late. Shimi'lande's daughter of the flesh, Chirinide, has overheard them. Fleeing as Diksavan holds off Chirinide, Ahaliya heads for the surface. But, when the mother and daughter fall asleep resting in exhaustion along the way, Chirinide cuts Analiya's throat and kills her. Ultimately, Ahaliya receives the rare honor of a noble's funeral to soothe the suffering of the newly adopted Mridu who has replaced and become Shimi'lande's daughter Chirinide.
Diksavan
First Appearance: page 18.
Diksavan was the light elf father of Chirinide. Wounded and trapped in Chel'el'Sussoloth, he is discovered by Ahaliya who gives him shelter and nurses him back to health. Before he recovers, they fall in love and Mrid'dharini (Chirinide) is conceived. He returns to the surface ignorant of Ahaliya's pregnancy apparently never intending to return. However, he was unable to forget his love and comes back to bring Ahaliya to the surface world with him and learns of the child. Over the next ten years, he returns annually to try to pursuade Ahaliya to go back with him, but she isn't moved until a vision of Mridu's (Chiri's) spurs them to action. Sadly, they have already been discovered by Shimi'lande's daughter of the flesh, Chirinide, who ends up killing Diksavan. Unheard of in the history of Chel'el'Sussoloth, Shimi'lande honors this light elf with a noble drow's funeral at the request of the newly adopted Chirinide (Mridu).
