Lots of call for Kalki bloody murder. This is truly not about author drinking tears of reader thing. Quite the opposite, i’m quite anxious of losing people everytime i bring a rough story arc. So please be gentle.
KyorlWorldsetting2
3 Panels of the kyorl world setting page got textured. I thought i’d be interesting if their ancestors in the pictures were polished more than other. Thus giving many white scratches over them. That the half blood would get a red X over. And that their two darker path be less clean the rest. Too subtle perhaps…

AkisoraPage
Starting on Gem76 commission. That’s the last from july and again this might just be spread across many days. I’d like to finish that sexy Nega picture before saturday too.

It makes for a very compelling story. If we knew the guys we loved would never die it wouldn’t be as interesting. Kaliki is a friggin fantastic villian. Even if I hate her guts and want to stab her eyes out. But that just means you’ve done an awesome job creating a villian.

At the end of the day, they are just words.
    The vocal minority.
The handful that think they’ll get their way if they threaten to “leave DT”
The kind of people who make childish statements when things aren’t going as they want.

Every fandom has their toxic group that does this. Best to keep chugging along, lest you end up like the big game companies that fall into the trap of trying to satisfy all their playerbases.

Just keep doing what you do best.

Also, I agree that adding a special effect to emphasize the light elf diaspora would be a nice touch. Perhaps you could also have those who failed to survive to the current age be in darker panels than those that lived.

Yeah. Let the games go on. Those who die salute you.

I don’t have a horse in this race, but isn’t it a bit off to paint anyone who isn’t happy with a story development and decides that it’s no longer something they enjoy this way? At no point did Kern say anything about people threatening to leave in an attempt to get their way, just that he was afraid that some people might leave. That’s it. No extra.

I’ve seen your posts on the forum man, you’ve really got to let some of this slagging and trash talking go.

Read the past 35 or so threads to see what I’m speaking of. Mods having to lock some of them is indicative of about how strongly people are polarized about what is being written in this chapter. I’m particularly very, very tired of some of what has been said lately, and some posts on the page 109 thread are just icing on the cake.

      • Dalvyserran says:

So I say again, in the end this is not the reader’s story, this is kern’s story, and one should not be bullied by reader negativity :)

        • Dem says:

I think it’s wrong to paint expressing a negative view and a loss of interest as ‘bullying’. That’s just me.

I’ve read the past threads, by the way. Pretty closely actually. I’ve watched people get jumped all over and talked down to for expressing hope in a character they liked. I’ve seen them do it back too. The point is: the recent thread got locked for a reason, so maybe it’d be best to just let the topic die. Kern said nothing about it here, and there was no need to inject it again.

    • CutieSquiggoth says:

Agreed. Even if Ynda dies on 110, I still support your decisions Kern :)

Of course, I’m still hoping that she won’t die :) If she does, draw her demon well Kern, please :)

Awww I was going to put a comment in but its locked out it was going to be this thou.

Kalki to Ariel: Strike me down with all of your hatered and your journey to the dark side will be complete. XD

“This is truly not about author drinking tears of reader thing” your right this is about readers coming for the blood of the author!! >:C (J/K)
…actually I like to be kept on my toes keeps me coming back anxious! (As long as you don’t try to kill shot that’s too anxious!)

  5. Samireh says:

This is YOUR story, Kern. While you take advice from readers and genuinely care about our opinions/desires, never forget that this beautiful, crazy baby is yours. I’m just glad I’ve been able to witness it grow all these years :) We can’t dictate to you what we want to see. And those threatening to quit reading because they aren’t getting their way are very, very immature.

That aside, it’d be awesome were you to actually own a mug that says “readers’ tears” on it. And at the bottom on the inside a chibi of Kalki or Snad laughing into their hand or something XDDD

  6. Sionyx says:

Part of the problem comes from the page by page nature of the comic. If we were seeing this in book form, it wouldn’t feel like such a long “Kalki’s a violent nut” fest. There’ve been similar complaints in the past, there probably will in the future. While I’m not as happy with the last few pages as I could be, it isn’t my story to tell. When I start paying Kern’s entire salary, THEN I’ll have more of a reason to raise a large stink.

Tell the story you want to tell, Kern. Most of the readers aren’t going anywhere, and I’d lay money that if anyone DOES leave because of this, at least some of them will be back.

I think you write pretty good. *thumbs up*
