It seem everytime i’m set to make a big push on commissions, my body just break down. Yesterday i got struck by a migraine that made me lose the day(What suck the most is those migraine days means doing nothing. Can’t watch something, can’t read, play, walk, drive, talk or even just be able to see). Beside this I’ve little excuses for how long the commission take to complete. If i’m fine, i’m in front of the computer working, all summer long as always. Yet the writing and pages takes the entire days. Morning to night, everyday without fail. I would not normally consider these pages hard to draw either. Write, yes, as the cast is mostly cameos i’m often lacking established central and support characters. Still even if writing took 4 hours a day instead of 2; The page after shouldn’t take 10 hours! Not with a cast like this, full of black robed beldrobbaen everywhere.
So this said, it’s deffitively something in me and it is my fault for taking so long to do your commissions. I apologize.
All i can do is try to figure out the issue that make the work feel so sluggish. I hope, really hope this will be gone by the time i get to the kyorl chapter. I’ve so much dramatic moments involving large cast of characters that i need my energy ready to handle that kind of workload…
Have a small update to your commission Gem:

And let’s torture hungry people with what Kite cooked:
yes, those are hearts.

If that were happening to me, I’d guess it was some kind of hormone imbalance brought on by stress, and try to treat it by sleeping a lot, going for long walks on sunny days, and trying to burn it off by swinging a stick around in the yard. I’m not even sure whether this works for me, so I sure can’t give much advice. It used to happen to me all the time when I was still in school, so I think it was mostly being in control of my own schedule that helped with it. (Though medical treatment did, too–for the hormone problem, at least. Medicine specifically for the migraines didn’t help me at all.) Delicious breakfasts count for a lot, though, so I’m glad you’ve got those, at least!

My guess would be that you are just close to a Burn-out. Maybe just take a week-long break somewhere in the near future where you do the things Navian said and no drawing whatsoever to fill up your batteries again.

  3. Pariel says:

Get better soon, I mean, you have only one life. Don’t be afraid to take a break.

  4. CutieSquiggoth says:

Take a break and get better, do what you need. We’ll wait, you’re worth it. Leave us on a cliff hanger if you want to be nasty, but we’ll still be here.

Whether it’s de-stress, eat better, sleep more, get seriously fit, whatever, do it, and come back when you’re ready and your body is cooperating. We’ll be here.

  5. Metzger says:

    Take Care Kern.

  6. Illasol/IaY says:

Exactly what the others mentioned. Try to figure out what makes you feal bad and try to work it out. If that means you have to take a break to get better so be it. Whe can bear with you and Kite take a brak but not without Drowtales if the things kepp getting worse. So take your time and get well.

  7. Gunbird says:

I think I with the people who say you need a brake. If the migraine don’t go away go to the doctor.

    Get better, man.

  8. Razara says:

The readers generally have an infinite variety of views on many things, so I think it says a lot when there’s pretty much a unanimous consensus that you guys deserve a break. Just give the readers a little bit of notice, and then spend 7 days doing whatever you want without worrying. You can spend that week sleeping, playing video games, saving kittens from trees– it’s totally up to you guys. We’ll all still be here when you get back. Seriously, I will start a petition if that’s what it takes.

  9. TGTG says:

    Get well soon.

I dunno man, I know you’re not the kind of guy who wants to take things easy or time off or I’d reiterate whats been said above. So Im just going to say, I know its hard to be creative when youre not inspired but keep your chin up and keep at it. YOU CAN TOTALLY KICK THIS CHAPTER’S ASS!

  11. You’re doing fabulous, Yan. It’s not easy drawing on a hot tablet in a hot room during a hot summer! Also your body sounds stressed. That always messes with your concentration and motivation. Good luck pulling through, and just know a bunch of us are cheering for you~~

I remember my bout with migraine several years ago, the sparkly things that crawled across my vision like neon fractals followed by crippling facial pain from the right sinuses back towards the temple. One time it was so bad I lay on my darkened bathroom floor praying for the end. They passed in about half an hour, but left my vision supersensitive so I couldn’t look at my computer screen for a while. Perhaps it was brought on by stress, because it was during a period of unemployment, and after I got a steady job, it hasn’t recurred.

Kern, please take some time off soon. I recommend some outdoor activity in Mother Nature, while the weather is good. Take Kite and maybe go hiking or camping, looking at nothing but trees, creeks, the sky, maybe spy a wild animal or two. Consider it therapeutic to unplug. We’ll all be fine, don’t sweat us, we’ll wait for your return : )
