Rules

They're very simple. :)

General:

  • Keep in mind the information given!

  • Be original. You may modify outfits and styles, but remember the first rule. In other words, don't submit completely different characters or just any piece of art you can find.

  • The winner is selected by a combination of originality and quality. No coin toss!

  • The artist whose piece shows the most effort will receive one point from Chibi-Ariel.

  • Contact the artist if you need further information.

  • The artist decides what is and is not acceptable. (e.g. hentai, violence)

  • You may only have one entry per month, but this entry can consist of as many individual pictures as you like.

  • Send your submission in before the deadline!

  • For identification purposes, it helps if you give your submission a filename which uses your own name.

Voting:

  • Originality is the subject of the picture: how funny or interesting it is.

  • Quality is the artistic skill displayed in the picture: style, detail, shading or color.

  • Vote only once!

  • The winner is selected by a combination of originality and quality. No coin toss!

  • The artist whose piece shows the most effort will receive one point from Chibi-Ariel.

  • Only the first vote from a unique IP address or e-mail is counted.

  • The decision of the judges is final.

Winning:

  • The characters you feature do not have to come from a manga! You may use rpg characters, characters from written stories, or simply random creations. The only restriction is that the character(s) you feature must be your own original design.

  • For rpg characters, if your character comes from a series-based rpg, they cannot have any connection to actual characters from the show/movie from which they are based.

    • Example: Sailor Oompaloompa is a fan-senshi who, while based off Sailormoon, does not exist in the same universe as the original Sailormoon characters. You could not, however, use a Sailor Nova who is best friends with Usagi and the other senshi. When in doubt, ask!

  • Please turn in your picture a few days before the end of the month.

  • Include whatever text you wish to accompany your image. If you want the text formatted a certain way, send it as html. This includes links and color.

  • Include the name and address of the website you wish to link to and your contact e-mail.

Eligibility

  • Anyone is eligible to win, provided that the artwork submitted is the creation of the person submitted. No proxy entries are allowed.

Fanfiction Rules:

1.  All submitted fiction must be written clearly, and checked over for both spelling and grammar as much as possible.  No-one likes a sloppy piece of writing.

2.  It is highly advised that you do not include your own characters in the submitted fiction.  You may do so at your own discretion, but remember, this is supposed to be about the other person's character(s).  If you are in a roleplaying game, and have characters in the subject's home-world, you may include them, but also remember, the main subject needs to be the given topic.

3.  Please be kind with the other person's character(s).  A piece of fiction where everyone dies after a gunman shoots them all, then proclaims the greatness of Hitler is, most likely, in poor taste.  Read the person's description of them, the comic they came from, the fiction that is their home, whatever is available, and try to keep it at the level of the artist/author, unless they give the okay otherwise.

4.  Use your better judgment on length.  In all reality, a single haiku probably isn't long enough, but perhaps multiple haiku's could tell a story, or explore different facets about the subject.  Also, turning in a work to rival Pride and Prejudice, while admirable, would be too long for most people to read and review.  Go with what feels best.  Epic poems, short stories, perhaps a play?  Be creative!

5.  If you cannot draw at all, and you do win, you still need to submit art for the main page.  Here are your options:

A.  Do you have fanart of your characters?  Something you could adapt?

B.  Ask your friends, if you have any who can draw, and see if they couldn't come up with something for you.

C.  If all else fails, tell the MOMC fanfiction board, and please tell us early.  We will come up with something for you on our own.  Please use this option only if you must, and as early as possible.  We're happy to help, but the more time, the better.

6.  Have fun with it.  You never know, you could win and have your characters showcased next month.
