Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

Ahh, finally done. =] I hope you all like it. It took me quite a while to finally figure out what I wanted to draw. ._.
Anyway, this is Neferet Pamiuw. She belongs to me. She is also a Sphynxtaur- Like a centaur only with lion/Egyptian additions.
So yes... Enjoy!

is not finished now!? It's simply gorgeous! I love the shading on the hair and, well, everything actually... and the Egyptian influence in outfit (especially the inclusion of the scarab there...) and hair as well as form chosen. The wings, the lion's body, and dark hair in that style... the whole things screams 'EGYPT' which is really nifty. Like I said, I love the shading... on her torso, the gold collar and bracers, and wings and rump... just wow. If it's not done now I don't know what could possibly be done to make this look more finished and COOL.

BreeWinde @ Friday, December 31st 2004, 7:22 PM
Wow, really lovely work. I really like your character design, very orginal and pretty. The wings are wonderful. Keep up the great work, hun. <3

oni shi @ Friday, December 31st 2004, 10:21 PM
ahh beautiful colors! i love all the golds and browns with thats splash of blue sky. this character is so snazzy.

Ghislain WildCat @ Saturday, January 1st 2005, 7:57 AM
Wow! I really like the idea of a sphynx centaur! You did a pretty good job at drawing one too! Plus, the lighting and coloring are REALLY nice.

Maybe I should draw her with Cleo (my own sphynx-anthro character) one day?

Kamourian King @ Saturday, January 1st 2005, 4:49 PM
i love the wings ^^ and awesome char disine as well.... beautiful

AnimeCanuck @ Sunday, January 2nd 2005, 4:35 PM
Beautiful creature, colours, and tones. Quite Egyptian, indeed. This is a VERY, very lovely picture! ^_^

Wow! O.O <--- (look of amazement)

Lady_Sea @ Sunday, January 2nd 2005, 10:05 PM
Amazing work. The line art and the coloring is just absolutely superb! I like the lil glowing highlights on her shoulder and end too ^^. The shading is so well done. This is just beautiful work, especially the desert and pyramid in the bg. The wings are really something to look at as well. I like how you did the varying colors of the feathers from a tan to a golden. This is a really awesome character design. Excellent work, especially on the gold jewelry.

Kaiera @ Monday, January 3rd 2005, 10:51 PM
Lovely lovely indeed :) beautiful hair.....but I think what really catches my eye are the wings. Masterfully done. Excellent solid shading to boot.

Carbuncle @ Tuesday, January 4th 2005, 12:40 AM
awesome character!! I lurve centaur people!! I love tte whole thing except the wings they might be a lil bigger if they were to carry her anywhere!!

celestial crou @ Wednesday, January 5th 2005, 5:21 AM
I LOVE THIS! the sphinx is awsome! I love egyptian stuff. But with a hint of Assyrian. The figure could also fall under a Lamasu statue. The hair is very egyptian and the wings are SO cool. The BG is origional. The fact that its all in watercolor empaasizes the figure all the more. Very cool.

Ooh man...this makes me wanna draw that sphinx girl I did back before the board got consumed. lol Hmm...maybe I'll draw her again sometime...yeah...maybe maybe.

I love the cel shading here. Solid cel shading even. I personally just can't work in solids. You've got a nice sense of depth working here. I love how the wings change to that gold color at the ends. That's always a nice touch to have. The desert background with the pyramid though a little stereotypical of egypt are a nice touch. Very nice overall. I love the whole idea of the Sphinx...and of course...the riddle of the Sphinx. It's amazing how few people actually know the riddle and the answer. But not the point. lol Nice image, and egyptian inspired ALWAYS wins!

Chime @ Wednesday, January 19th 2005, 7:21 PM
Gorgeous. I adore the coloring on this, especially the way you add a touch of watercolor (yes?) . Though the lineart is slightly choppy, and the color bleeds in a few spots, this is amazing. I especially like her hair, (Head and tail).

Queen_Godzilla @ Sunday, February 6th 2005, 3:25 AM
Sphinxataur, eh?

Good: Lovely character design. I don't think I've seen one of these before. It utilizes gold and tan very well. I just wish we could see more of her bodily structure. Her legs are a mystery right now. I love her demure expression and just how her entire posture is arranged too. Very Egyptian-like.

One thing I'd like to see improved in this piece is her arm length. Her arms are just a bit too long, from where I'm sitting. They seem out of proportion with her body. Also, it seems the hindquarters are raised very high when they shouldn't be. I dunno.

One of those Expressions I'll never be able to redraw.. It looks a wee bit funnier in the original; it's in one of my just for kicks comics That I'll soon scan so you know why the heck he's flippin out xD
I'll finish this soon; I have to go to the store shortly; When I get back I'll touch this up.
Comment if you wish

EDIT: Almost done; the highlights on the black side of his outfit bugs me to no end.

Ok I think I'll leave it at this; the day I wanted to finish this got a little wonky; hence delay.
Hope you like!

Rigga Mortis @ Wednesday, December 29th 2004, 10:59 PM
That is such a perfectly comical expression and pose...the eyes! XD I've always adored that effect, the bigger pupil and the smaller one. That is some crazy hair and goggles, but not in a bad way, and his coat has a neat design.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 1:15 AM
heheh... it is a priceless expression. I really like that pattern you used on the right side of his shirt, that's really nifty. It looks a litle plain... like there's not enough detail to warrent the size of the canvas or something. I think it would look really nifty as a little avatar or something, which is something you can already do by just changing the size when you save it. It is totally nifty...

Skittles-chan @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 8:57 AM
Mm o_o scary. His shirt does have a cool pattern though. I'd wear it. Only thing I can see so far is that the little shines on his goggles are all at different angles - very distracting. Though I do like that one on the right =3 as odd as it makes me feel for liking one specific highlight on some goggles.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 10:18 PM
DOH! I need to stop being such a dolt... ok, you rock. Sorry, not plain, very cool. Me likeis the shading... I'll go hide in my hole now <{T.T}>

Starisan @ Monday, January 3rd 2005, 11:48 PM
This is an awesome expression! I watched the animation and I want to say great job. I didn't realize how many layers of sublte shading it took to get those shadows as right as they are. Keep up the good work!

celestial crou @ Wednesday, January 5th 2005, 7:32 AM
wow. Mass of color. and a very funny pose. It makes me think of a character right after they get hit really hard and get thrown in the sky. or some such anime nonsence. I like the use of color and the shading you've done. and the highlighting. Even though its a little chibi-ish you still added detail. And thats quite the action bg.

Harlequin @ Thursday, January 6th 2005, 5:11 AM
lol I love the chibi-esque quality of the whole figure. lol But...and this could just be be here, but that coat thing he's wearing...it makes me think of those nylon windbreakers joggers are overly fond of wearing. Then again...maybe that's just me. lol I love the shading and highlighting, it's all so textured looking. That's just nifty. That's right...I said it...NIFTY!! lol In this case of extreme expression, the thick lines REALLY do this a lot of justice. Very good picture...and that orange and yellow background just adds so much to the crazy expression. lol Damn I love this one, I do I do!

kyokurrychan @ Sunday, January 30th 2005, 5:01 PM
awesome expression. quite evil @_@

Queen_Godzilla @ Sunday, February 6th 2005, 3:16 AM
XD ... I like this. It really is something that can't quite be duplicated.

I like the way the shadows and highlights are utilized. Y'know, that kind of scratchy coloration you used everywhere. I dunno. It just made it feel more organic.

Then, of course, there's the expression. That sort of >:D thing going on there. I dunno. The kooky way the eyes look and the cartoony mouth and expression make me happy. It's pretty freaky.

Nice details too -- the goggles, the eyes, hair, jacket, ear shape, etc. It all works together really well. Heh.

Ack! Idea stealer! Aah! Well damn. Ah, well... beautiful BEAUTIFUL picture. I was so rooting for Christine to end up with the Phantom... why does the prettyboy always have to win, eh? So anyways, I love the muted shading, it's so very appropriate and the candles in the background are fantastic. They really fit the theme too, it's just the perfect background with enough detail to make it purdy. *sigh* So tender... grr. *mumblemumbleprettyboysgetalltheluckmumble*

Sumi @ Saturday, January 29th 2005, 11:09 PM
The movie looks really good, but I haven't seen it yet. ~_~ Goin' to see it in NY this spring. Very nice candlelight and you did a great job with their hands. I really love the frilly edges on Christine's? dress and the detail you did around the Phantom's neckline. =3

Saw this movie last week and I still can't get some of the songs out of my head.
I have been waiting to see your finished picture from the moment I saw your lineart yesterday afternoon. I knew it would be beautiful then and it is even better than I expected. The Phantom's tender embrace of Christine is so very sweet, yet possessive at the same time.
I like the Phantom and Christine pairing, but I also like the coupling of Raoul and Christine. Both have different outcomes in Christine's life.
Love. Love. Love your picture, Mishi.

Anyway, very romantic. It's nice to see how close to each other the characters are in the pic. ^w^ (I dunno if they're as close in the movie... hmmm...) and the outfits are very nicely drawn too. ^w^ But what I like the most is the candles in the background! You did such a great lighting job on them! It's incredible! ^w^

I hope you're happy now that I commented. XD

Prismatic @ Friday, February 4th 2005, 6:59 PM
Oh! I've really been wanting to see that movie too. This is really nice. The candles.. .wow! I really like how you blurred the background in that way, it makes it seem like this piece was a photograph, and the focus was on those in the foreground.
They look really good together. I like all the pretty details in their clothing.~

Yea!!!!!!!! i can draw again! This is the crou who is trying to save her poor pictures. But being attacked by the worm. for it has spread.

I usually dont do profile pics. And this one seems akward.

catboi incubus mishi @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:53 AM
I think her profile seems odd because her eye - although it's drawn really well - is awfully far back, and I think her forehead curves out a bit too much. Other than that, this looks really good, although the worms freak me out. D:

Loki @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:35 AM
Ooo wow! I love your profiles, your so amazing at them! I simply love her pose and the soft shading of her skin, you must finish this quickly! ^x^!

Totenmaske @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:42 AM
I think this profile comes across awkward only because the hand suggest her arm is bending rather too early, if you brought the arm down and her hand closer to her body I think it would come across a lot better.

Personally I think your images have been improving greatly of late, and with the recent worm hit, I felt troubled about not getting to any of your other works. But so far - other than the arm positioning, I think this image is coming along fine. Those worms are rather creepy - something that I keep expecting Harlequin to do frankly... something grotesque and frightening... but I don't think that is in her at the moment ;3. Keep up the good work, I will comment more fully once this is finished.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:43 AM
Wow, excellent detail in the eye! Her forehead seems a little large, but other than that this is really excellent. I adore her hat, that's fantastic. Also the worms... hehee.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 5:58 AM
Woah! Background! Wah! Looks like something from Dune... excellent! And the sun, and the shadows, just niftiness! Heheheh....

celestial crou @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 6:24 AM
I brought the hand down as was suggested. And that really did help.

I didnt redo the forehead or other hand 'cause the crou is lazy in redoing things. Thankyou for the suggestions. The next profile shall surly incorperate those suggestions that i couldnt/ didnt do in this one!

Hehehe...*points* This BG makes up for my past not so good ones!

Rigga Mortis @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 7:25 AM
Those are some creeeeepy worms, yes indeed...that eye is gorgeous. I love all the different shades and levels of blue inside it. The way the hair flows forward is quite pretty, and I think her nose is really cute. *Pokes.* That ear is nice, too.

I love the colors, and her dress is awsome.

Rigga Mortis @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:49 AM
Your worm rocks, despite it being evil. >O This is adorable, Freakymary. I love the chibi's sweet expression and her sparkly-pretty robe, the pose she's sitting in and the way you shaded her skin, mostly on her hands. The worm's mouth and eyes are my favourite part of it, next to the colours you chose. The background is quite creative, all the bit-marks with the code and the navigation bar at the top...very cool. :D

Skittles-chan @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:52 AM
The background is really neat =3 It took me a minute to realise that the little binary bits arent just randomly floating globules, though. The worm is really cute ^^ I like how he looks kind of confused.

Lady_Sea @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:15 AM
Now that is cute! Instead of using violence and anger, you used a kind reprimanding sort of theme ^_^. The expression on the worm is just adorable. That eye on her is big but it is a big cute eye and I like how her dress sparkles! I also like how you put the 0101coding in the background- it flows along with the eaten oekaki board theme. Nice nice!

catboi incubus mishi @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:30 AM
I have to complain about her eye - it's awfully huge. o __x; Other than that, I love this image, the worm is really cute, and I like how you incorporated the page into the image. The drow looks more curious about the worm than scolding. O:

celestial crou @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:49 AM
pretty ness!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like the worm best i think. The girl has HUGE eyes and i dont really care for that. The worm is in its smooth curlieness which is done wonderfully. The BG is interesting with the benary code (i think thats what its called) and the options bar on top. I would have liked to have seen more complementary colors.

Totenmaske @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:16 AM
This is an adorable interpretation of what happened Freakymary! Like most of your past work that was on the board before the great big hungry worm incident ? shows the playfulness of your style as well as the wonderful details you seem to have put into everything you do. The character designs are extremely cute, though in the sense of Ariel a little disturbing in the overly large eye aspect. Like most who have commented ? I personally adore the look of the worm, the little disturbing brown warts on his body are a nice touch ? though personally they come across rather dirt like. Mainly because it seems like he has a little bit of ?board dirt? on the side of his mouth.

But before I continue, I personally love the way you have the detail of the board toolbar, it seems perfectly spaced ? and frankly just adds that sense of quality to this image. The colouring is the other aspect that brings the image high marks, particularly in the sense of texturing in the dress of Ariel. That is something I always look for in your images, the special texturing ? and in this image it is enhanced with sparkling. The worm is flat, considering, but overall very well coloured and defined with the variation to create a sense of shadow and the sense of lighting. The teeth though on the worm and the little dot eyes just make the character.

The background is very impressive, I really love the whole idea of the coding running along underneath the board ? the bite marks are very cute and cartoon-like in aspect, though I think the sense of the shattering or broken glass effect you have seems out of place to me. It would have been best just to keep the bite marks, but overall it?s really nicely done. You have a rather large amount of blur effect in the background, which doesn?t rob from the overall image ? in the sense of the coding it adds to the overall effect.

Overall the playfulness makes this image exceptional. The colouring of Ariel btw is interesting, you give depth but you don?t truly individualize the fingers. Less detail work, but truly not missed in the end. Oh and AnimeCanuck was talking about the chin in their image ;3 And I have to agree the eye is a little distracting, but the overall look of the characters is fantastic ? nice little shimmer to the eye btw.

Loki @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:36 AM

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:41 AM
Heh, I love it. I especially love how you've captured the spiders silk feel to the dress, with its texture and sparkle. That worm is SOOO cute! The little underbite is fantastic. Really adds to the 'big-dumb brute' look. I love how you've got that pose with Ariel down, and I just noticed the binary in the empty holes of drowkaki. Awesome work!

(: I'm glad to see our beloved board back up!
edit:: Whoa. I'm still the Official Sex Kitten! KICKASS. X)
Anyway, just because the board was wiped out doesn't mean the Secret Santa is off. This is my contribution - it's Takku, dressed up as a lovely Christmas angel for everyone's favorite Ren-Tsuna. (:
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of my Drowkakians! <33

It looks so cute.
Looks like someone is getting annoyed.. or..
Has a head ache.... The wings are cute!

Rigga Mortis @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 1:29 AM
Ohhh lucky Ren. Lucky lucky Ren. Mishi, this is so awesome! The pose and hair and the colouring on the shirt...gah! I love it. :3 The holly is such a cute touch. That particuler shade of green just keeps catching my eye, your usual dapply-colouring really brings it out. Just lovely, Mishi. You're such a superstar.

AnimeCanuck @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:09 AM
Totally cute! The detail of the holly looks really nice.

freakymary @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:14 AM
awww so cute ^_^ i love how you draw people mishi, the wreath around his head is really cute. though i see a scare on his face :( poor thing. the sparkly green background goes good with this, helps the charecter stand out :)

YourNuubGod @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:32 AM
Yey! HAppy to see you got back. ^^ I missed yer art, that I did. -snickers- This sorta has a saintpatricky look cuz of all the green.

His scar and wings are very cool.

Lady_Sea @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:10 AM
Wow, I'm sure Renhead will really like this! ^_^. Those wings are kawaii and the floaty orby things are fun to look at. The holly crown is really nifty and adds nicely to the Christmas theme. The character doesn't seem to be enjoying the season too much tho >.O, must be those spikey leaves on his head. XD.
Lovely job!

celestial crou @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:53 AM
WOW. I LOVE the glesture and the face/ hair on this one. The face and its expression are just...wonderful. YOu did an excelent job with the line art. I think the detail is lost with the limbs and fingers though. The hand is a little big and akward. And there are more curves to the arms then you have here. But all in all its great. The BG is cool with its flying orbs.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:16 AM
Cool! I love the green and gold combination, makes me inspired to do a Christmas angel of my very own. He looks a little sad, or maybe very forgetful. Maybe he forgot to buy a Christmas present for his mom? Heh. His wings are cute, they look a bit like cardboard type cutouts, their simplicity is adorable. I love his hair, it's very uneven and feathery, like real hair would lay. I also like the uneven dots of shading on his shirt, it adds texture. My favorite part by far is the holly wreath, it's so detailed and lovely! His scar bothers me a little, though. The simplicity of the rest of the image is reall contrasting with the detail on the face, and the black lines, which work for everything else, detract from the overall image on that scar. That's all I have to say... beautiful work, merry Christmas!

Loki @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:37 AM
Wahh Mishi! Adorable! That reminds me, I still have to draw *insert name here*'s Secret Santa gift. XD This is really cute, I love the holly in his hair, and his "Oh no!" expression is adorable! I love you. lol

HuntressD @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 8:04 AM
Woo Mishi! This pic's got some sort of "why ME of all people" feeling to it! It's very adorable, and really, Merry Christmas to you too. ^_^ Adorable angel. *takes the holly wreath off his head and puts it on her own* BWAHA. ;3

Ikena @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 9:45 PM

I love his expression and his lipstick! =]

Jennifer @ Friday, December 24th 2004, 1:14 AM
Awww...poor Takku. He looks a little unhappy about his current situation. Maybe the wings and holly crown are a little too much for his liking? I don't think so. ^_^

TigerHawk @ Monday, December 27th 2004, 1:28 AM
the mistletoe/hollyberry thingy is drawn really good. And the expression is really great.

You always succeed really well at posing. I like thier hand, I'm never that great at getting arms and hands in the right positions.
The shading in their clothing looks fantastic. It looks like you spent a lot of time on that part~

I'm glad the worm's been taken care of. I did this with a mouse at my radio station while waiting to press play on the CD! (to start a pre-recorded show on cjam.ca) I felt like trying solids, too. What do you all think?

Merry Christmas everyone!

catboi incubus mishi @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 11:15 PM
Good to see you again, AC! Nice image, although I have to say, that is one LARGE chin. o __o; It could do with more shading, considering the most shading I can tell is a little in the hair and shirt - if that sparkle were the light source, the contrasting shadows should be a lot more harsh. Anyway, Merry Christmas to you, too!~

Lady_Sea @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 11:40 PM
*pokes the shiny thing* OoOoh! Pretty!
Yeah. I agree with Catboi. If the sparkley is a light source, then the highligting and shading should be added appropriately.
The other thing that I will critque on is the shoulder facing towards us. It's a lil odd, but overall I feel this picture has alot more potential in store. Good job overall and Happy Christmas ^_^.

LunarMnM2004 @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 12:27 AM
I liketh the star.. glowy thinggy! It looks awsome. You did a pretty good job on the profile.

Rigga Mortis @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 1:33 AM
Oh, pretty shiny...I like the star-shine-orb...thing. I don't know what to call it, but it reminds of of a sun glare on a photo-lense. I've always liked that effect. :3 The hair colour is so soft and nice. My only suggestion would be to trim the chin a little.

Merry Christmas and a happy winter holiday to you! :D

AnimeCanuck @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:06 AM
Yeah, I don't know why, but I tend to draw the long chins. Nah, the glowie thing's not a light source, just a background.

Thanks for the comments!

freakymary @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:08 AM
merry christmas to you too ^_^ the star in the background is pretty. i wont crit anything since i think everything has been said already. but i love the shade of pinkish/purple for the hair :)

Skittles-chan @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:30 AM
I agree with what's been said. There's a very noticeable lack of shading, but the chin isn't really big, it's just muvh too low

YourNuubGod @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:31 AM
Ooh. Cool sideview. I like the sorta blank expression. I really love the shirt for some reason. -blinks-

celestial crou @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:59 AM
pretty light! i really like it. The character's chin is too low and the eye is too close to the edge of the face. Other then that i like the fighure.

Loki @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:39 AM
Wow! I love that shiny thing! so attractive. plus the shading on the hair is magnificent! *_*!
I like the eye, and the skin. So soft and simple.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 5:54 AM
Hmm.... yes, yes, definitely more shading. Also yes yes, beautiful lense flare effect. Chin could stand to be a bit smaller... but I love the hair and the determined expression. The hair being a bit dishevelled and the off-shoulder tunic give a haggard appearance, which is kind of cool. Niftiness, indeed.

HuntressD @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 8:07 AM
Wow AC, it's been a long time! :D Overall, this is nice, except that the head is a tad big for the rest of the body. :3 and hey *hugs you tightly* Merry Christmas to you too. :3

AnimeCanuck @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 9:04 PM

Prismatic @ Friday, February 4th 2005, 4:28 AM
Ooh~ I like it. The pretty light of glowness.
Nice job on starting with solid shading. I think it might add a little more depth however if you used a couple more tones in it. Like.. three or four different shades of the same color at least.
Nice profile! Their pointy nose is so cute~

Hm it seem you are new to this board. Sorry but i must ask you go to read the rules section. One very important rule is that you need to spend a minimum of 30 minutes on a pic. This rule exist for the sake of getting a minimum of efforts on the artworks.

Kamourian King @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 11:05 AM
i really like the hair.... how it was colored..... ^^

YourNuubGod @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 12:42 PM

Rigga Mortis @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 7:47 PM
Neat texturing on her hair! Aaah, balloons. :3 What stands out to me, next to her hair, is her cute lower lip and the blush on her cheek. The background is captivating, too.

HuntressD @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 9:58 PM
aw. this is adorable. nice use of texture in her hair, except that it would need just a teensy bit of shading. :D wee!

catboi incubus mishi @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 11:10 PM
You're breaking the rules. You have to spend at LEAST 30 minutes on an image. I cannot stress enough how important it is to follow this rule in particular. People who have worked much longer on their images will be unhappy because their work will be pushed down. :\

freakymary @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:02 AM
now this is different 0_o never seen a head balloon... thing.
good job with the lip and tooth though :) it seems you did rush this.. hopfully your next post will be better.

AnimeCanuck @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 2:10 AM
Yeah... this is really weird. Nice eye, though.

Totenmaske @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 3:09 AM
Even though this is rather under the time limit YourNuubGod (which you have been properly reprimanded by Kern), I must admit I like the overall aspect. Mainly because this reminds me of a *sad panda* that I talk to occasionally? You seemed to concentrate upon the use of thick line art that really gives the impression of a quickly rendered image ? which in the long run hurts the overall look. The idea of a ballooned head character is interesting though, and very pleasing to the eye ? especially that exposed tooth that everyone seems to point out.

The mixture of colours is pleasing, personally, simply because it seems to add more depth to the image than what is truly present. That is another issue about using thick line art ? it hurts the sense of depth if you don?t concentrate on refining the colouring. The little stick figure in the corner is extremely flat as well, but its sole purpose in the canvas seems to be added effect of the balloon head.

Overall a rather cute first post on the board, but one that could have benefited from some more time spent. I do like the colouring and the whole facial expression, overall a very pleasing image ? even though it comes across rushed.

celestial crou @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:06 AM
wow. This is something i havnt seen before... 0-o a face balloon. Nice eye. and a very interesting hair coloring style. its like water.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:22 AM
Welcome to the board! Well, aside from it being below the time limit (which you've already been informed of so I'm not going to harp on about) this is a really nifty picture. So many lovely textures! I particularly like how the eye and the area directly surrounding it is shaded. The stick figures, I think, really don't help the image, and the words could be cool if they were a little bit neater. Anyway, welcome to the board, I'm sure you'll be much better next time!

Pose is lovely, impressive use of lace at the edges of her gloves/armwarmers. The overabundance of hearts makes me think of either Barbie or the head of the Val'Ley'Girl clan from that hideous Daydream archive... heheh. YEA!!!!!!!!! its done! Pretty in pink indeed. I like the bg and its cloudy glory. And the letters bring on a comic effect. But the white part inbetween the lines is a bit too messy for my taste. The skin has been lightly shaded and highlighted and the dress is wonderful and very imaginitive. The pic almost seems to be a second forever placed in a frame. cause i know i wouldnt be able to hold that position very long......

HuntressD @ Wednesday, December 22nd 2004, 5:43 AM

I'm totally diggin' his lips-- they really add to zer awesomely determined expression he's sportin'. I also veddy much enjoy his collarbone area-- it's quite defined. *nodnod* muy good stuffs.

celestial crou @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:13 AM
The figure is nice. But its all monotone. Nothing jumps out or is defined. The cape is what l like best. its got the folds and general figure a cape has.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 6:02 AM
Hmm... tablets are hard. I could never get mine to work for me, ever. At all. Eventually I gave up and went back to mouse, gives me more control but makes smooth lines virtually impossible to achieve. Is that blush, or glasses? Can't quite tell... it almost looks like a Harry-Potter type character. So I like the character design and concept, I think a little more details and brighter colors would really make this stand out. The sketchiness could work for you if you hone it a little bit, play with it some, do some shading, something to give it that extra edge. Good luck with that! Overall I think it's a good picture, well proportioned and with good composition and expression. Keep it up!

Basil @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 8:12 PM

haha this is so cute XD i love that expression.. so evil! some reason, im loving the puff of smoke 0_o and would you belive.. i just finally seen the worm. XD guess my monitor is just darker then everyone eles. nice shading on the hair :) hehe kill that worm!

celestial crou @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 4:21 AM
SWEET a chibi! Really nice coloring and detailing. The simplicity of the worm really works here. But i dont really like the color choice of the BG. I feel that you used too much Grey already and that the pants and worm blend in.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 6:07 AM
Hehee... fairy-powered fire extinguisher! I wonder how that would work... you'd need a fairy that releases a potent gas when agitated, and then a valve... you'd also have to make sure the gas that fairy excreted was not flammable. Indeed. Unless you were going for a FLAME THOWER! That could be totally cool. Anyway, the whole thing is totally cool, from the worm on the 'Matrix' background to the excellent shading and detail on your character. The words seem a little out of place, since everything else has been so neat and tidy the red words are both hard to read and a little distracting. Still, this is a hoot... YOU GET THAT WORM! YAH! GO!

Ikena @ Thursday, December 23rd 2004, 9:33 PM
*lol* Awesome I love the girl's expression and the worm! and the bg! XD

Mmm. Smashy smashy. I know what you mean about crunching a computer, I was about ready to do that to mine a few days ago. X3 The drow is cute. Overall the image is a little messy for a proper picture, in my opinion, but I think the main problem is the lack of outline around her dress/feet/hammer and the background. It's really cute, though. Chibis always are. ^^

Just one thing - maybe you could make the profile more...human-ey? I don't know if it's supposed to be more muzzle-like, as you said it's a dragon person, right? But if it's a human, it sort of goes in under the nose, then out again for the lips...and I'm being very vague as I'm tired. -_-. But, uhm, yes. I hope you find your tablet pen!

He's not a bright person, and so Honey is highly neglected. See her little hind foot sticking out? Her leg's broken from being hit by a car, and she never received medical attention =(
I'm also the one who's been her main food supply for over a year and nobody knows that but me, so shh.
I'm going to get her from him. She will be mine. She will be loved.
All a matter of time, patience, and cunning on my behalf. gotta make it seem like his idea.
But she will. And it needs to happen before it's too late...

I love the facr O_O The coloring on it, its great!
The hands too, like everyone says, are so detailed, and the shrt-coloring is awesome. Seriously, this is a great piece. The wings though slightly messy, arent so bad. If they were a bit more like feathery, Itd be awesome-er. Lol

I really hope youre goping to be okay ;___; Its so depressing to have a member go through a bad time.

Take care.

Tigerhawk @ Tuesday, January 25th 2005, 5:30 AM
Ah, I know how exactly how s/he feels.

The line art I see came out very clean (something I'll never be able to achieve). i do believe that the lines for the hair came out very nicely. i do agree, the wings do look like a last minute job but they give me a feel of childness from this character. I'd love to explain, but I doubt people like reading what I write (I go on and on). Maybe laters. But I would like to point out that some children have a sense of insecurity and that's what those wings give me a feeling of. insecurity.
The coloring is da bomb my friend. It's just too cool. the seperation of words for "alone" is a great way to use....what do you call those thingies........I'll get back to you on that.

She's one of my favorite characters I've created for a RP - she's from a pirate RP Windy and I are doing. Nera is awesome, she's a no-nonsense, sexy gypsy alien. Cute! I always like seeing your work and the textures you use. x) The little girl is sweet, and Ari's expression is awesome. I love it. xD

Starisan @ Sunday, January 23rd 2005, 10:45 PM
Heh Heh, how cute! Wow, you have a fun style. I love the shirt texture. Gorgeous hair too! This is a lot of fun, he looks so nervous or unsure and she's like hmmm I'm happy. I love it, yeah for pictures that make us smile.

darkrose @ Sunday, January 23rd 2005, 11:44 PM
heh, cute. Beautiful job texturing things, their hair is very shiny and cool and the clothing looks totally spiffy. His hand gripping the bag looks a little off, but their expressions take so much focus towards themselves that the hand is barely noticeable at all. I really like the background, although I think there's a little too much space on the left side, it almost looks unbalanced. You can pretty easily fix that by just taking it in any graphics program (I use ms paint) and just cropping it down a little. Then again, that heart is so well done and so adorable that you might not want to sacrifice it. Still, wonderful job. Keep it up!

Ashi @ Monday, January 24th 2005, 3:08 AM
Ah, sugoi! I love both of their expressions, although the blonde is definitely having a panic attack. :)

Chime @ Monday, January 24th 2005, 2:30 PM
I cant recall the girls name from your comment, but I love the coloring on her outfit. The thing I keep coming back to on this picture is her sweet, Arent I cute? expression. Its so kawaii~~~~

Aris shirt is nicely done, his expression also. The background, though plain, is a nice touch.

Nice piece ^^

Shakaku @ Monday, January 24th 2005, 9:00 PM
Those expressions are prieceless, and they are both adorable. The textures on the clothing is awesome and the hair looks nice too. Not sure if you were trying to have his hand be up close and them in the middle ground of the picture or if it's suppose to be int he same middle ground as him but, I think the hand if it's suppose to be int he middle ground with the characters, it should be made smaller, it makes the picture look slightly heavy right there.

KHatch @ Tuesday, January 25th 2005, 5:54 AM
Oh the beautiful shading! The tones and solids are well done. I love Ari's outfit. Adorable expresion too, looks like he needs to meet Argpoodle.

Bah. This could have been better in many ways. I had to rush the background because my pinky started hurting REALLY bad...and I attempt to draw with a tablet/pen. Comment, criticisms, suggestions, anything helps ^.^

Tigerhawk @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 7:55 AM
your moon came out wonderfully. Your shading came out pretty good but you should have also shaded in her hair too ^^ You did a great job on this. Can't wait to see more of your artworks.

Totenmaske @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 8:17 AM
Welcome to Drowkaki! Well personally I don't like to see someone say 'they rushed' a certain segment of an image, because that almost comes across as if they didn't put their best into their post. But you are new, and I personally see some nice little details in this image that suggest that you are endeavoring to improve ? so I?ll do my best to point out what I like and think needs to improved upon. But keep in mind that you must also comment on other individuals works after you post an image I prefer you to comment on 0 images, for each post ? though this is taxing ? try for at least five though. And since this is your first post on the board, try to limit yourself ? don?t want you to start posting an image one after another ? that pushes other artists work down.

But anyway I don?t want to seem like I?m berating you, just have to state that before I continue ;3 ? colouring seems to be okay, there is some real issues though with the background, it does come across rather rushed, and that hurts the image overall. The moon has the touch of texture and the stars to me could have been a little refined.., even though it is acceptable, it could have been a little better. I personally like the slight texturing effect that was brought about through the burning (believe that is what you used) for the segment of the moon on the left side of the canvas.

Character wise, very nice drow, the bit I have trouble with though, is her right arm (on the left side of the canvas) it doesn?t seem to be ?that attached? to the body, and the hand seems too flat considering, The facial expression is interesting and in the end is pleasing, the hair is a little too clumpy ? but I like it, as well as the little use of purple in the hairline, but it doesn?t seem to work as well in the pony tail. The main issue I have with the character is the use of a rather thick line art, what you could try is leaving your line art at 1x and using a lighter pressure, to get the sense of pencil work, play around and you may find an interesting effect being born with the applications you use.

The colouring of the fabric is pleasing though, I like the way you have a nice sense of shear fabric around her shoulders, and to be truthful if you put a little more shading or rather varying colours to show the sense of shadow and light on the character overall you could have brought more depth to her, not to mention the image. The belt is a little weak in details, but this is more of a result of thick line art etc. Truthfully the image is fine for a first post, but I would like you to practice a little with the colouring and the line art before posting again, if you want I can help guiding you to downloading PaintBBS so you could use it offline to sharpen up your skill with the application. I?m not saying ?don?t post,? just thinking practice before next major post would help your growing talent exceptionally. Don?t forget to comment on others btw, I do look forward to future pieces by you. Very promising expression and setup so far ? oh don?t forget if you want to retouch an image you have to use Animation!

Skittles-chan @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 8:45 AM
I actually kind of like the background. It's much better than if you would have left it all one solid colour, anyway. Though I agree the stars are kind of off. If you're doing something in the five-point style, it should probably remain consistant, otherwise do them like you see real stars. Also, it's kind of common to get out of drawing hands by placing them behind the back and such, but it isn't a very natural pose unless she's hiding something, and it won't help you get much practise to improve. Your basic anatomy and shading are pretty good ^^ I like how you've used solids and watercolours, though a few more colours in certain places would certainly add more dimension. Also, the line of the sheer fabric that's behind her could be thinner and/or slightly distorted in some way (dotted), to help illustrate the face that it's transparent; it looks a little awkward as it is.
Anyhow, an overall nice image ^^ I like the childish storybook-illustration feel to it.

Rigga Mortis @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 7:19 PM
She's cute, and that's an interesting outfit. Toten's already mentioned it, but yes, her right arm does look a little odd. The background is pretty, especially the moon; it has a glowy-effect that I find pleasing, and it's nice to see that you carried that out on the rest of the picture, highlighting her clothing accordingly. :D Very nice hair, too, the purple is soft and contrasts to her outfit.

Darkrose @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 10:15 PM
Ooh, nifty! I like the sheer effect you've got on her shawl thing, very cute. I also like how the background looks like a cloth backdrop like for photography and stuff. Now for some critique: the lines look a little thick and out of place with that delicate watercolor shading you've got. Maybe you could try making the lines thinner, or even in watercolor to smooth the look of the picture out a little bit. Other than that, the anatomy looks pretty sound, detil is a little lacking (mostly because of the overwhelming black lines) but overall it looks pretty good. So welcome and keep going!

oni shi @ Friday, December 31st 2004, 10:30 PM

Harlequin @ Thursday, January 6th 2005, 5:31 AM
Well, I'm going to keep this short as I have a bad habit of rambling on about nothing in particular in my comments. lol There are two things that I think would improve your art, and probably result in a happy artist panda (yes yes...this means you). First of all...the bezier tool. The best tool ever created...with the exception of maybe 'shadeoff'...blur tool. Bezier makes lines SO much smoother. Even though I have a tablet I *still* rely heavily on the bezier. Why? Well I'll tell you why, it's a SEXY TOOL that's why. lol Ok...so that second thing. Well, thinner lineart when you're trying to get that much character into that little space. If you're doing a close up and there's not a lot of detail, use thick lines if you want, that's all fine and good. But if you're doing a partial body shot like this one, thinner lineart really tends to make the character seem cleaner overall, and the details will really stand out. You seem to have a good understanding of how the applets work already though...and so...ZEES IS GOOD!! lol God damn I need to start sleeping more...bah, just take what I've said as advice, not as "you must draw zees way".

XD Great texturing, as well. *Pets the cloak.* XB The only thing I'd really change is the sky. It looks a little.. I dunno. Bare. Maybe add a few clouds. The stars also look a little rushed. Other than that, it's really great. ^^

Mwuahahaha! *grabs socked feet* So cool!

Skittles-chan @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 8:51 AM
Awesome perspective. For some reason the legs really stick out to me. It seems like they're the most difficult part to draw when doing an image with such an angle, but you've done them masterfully. The folds in all the bits of clothing are really good too - again, I noticed the legs first, particularly around the knees, but the cape as well, especially how the fuzzy bit's been shaded.
I'd be a little afraid if that came down my chimney though.

Rigga Mortis @ Thursday, December 30th 2004, 7:16 PM
Windyyy. Your watercolours are so awesome. The folding and shading on that cape is so wonderful and I like studying it. :D Same with those...frost-curls (?) around his feet. That is a very interesnt and awkward-looking perspective to draw from, but I think you pulled it off perfectly. His eyes and expression are creepy, fitting really well with this image, and I like how his hand is supporting the bag. :D Really well-done, Windy.

oni shi @ Friday, December 31st 2004, 10:31 PM

Sweet! IThis definatly sets a different mood to the norm of christmas. Kinda like futurama and the santa-bot. Lol. then again i have this nightmare before christmas tune stuck in my mind. I like the diffferent perspective. But i would have liked to have seen a more toned sky.

Harlequin @ Thursday, January 6th 2005, 5:23 AM
Can I just say...I love the perspective on this one? The whole bottom of the feet up is just...SO COOL!! Now...I'm assuming he's standing on the equivalent of a skylight, and what has otherwise been called 'fur' is really the frost on said skylight. The reds in the cape are really nice, they really show a nice folding of the fabric where it's gathered around the neck. The white edging...well...the blue used on it certainly makes it look textured. Very interesting look. I really like it...just like I like those green pants. Seriously...I want a pair of pants in THAT color green now. In addition to being a gorgeous pair of pants...the shading does that textured thing. I really like how you do that, it just makes the clothing on the characters seem more real. Same thing with the shirt, more of that nifty texturing. Awesome contribution to the secret santa project Windy. It's very nice! It makes me smile like a not so sad panda! XD!!

Watching the animation - I notice that you seemed to be in a slight slump before settling upon this image. Personally I think this looks rather good so far ? simply because it is a rough of the line art before you begin on the actual refinement. Now that being said, I have to say that the perspective is a little off in the terms of the floor (it being a rather rough background, I believe you were planning to refine that to look better anyway). But overall I like the whole idea that you are planning with this image ? the facial expression is actually more pleasing to me than the other characters you were going through before settling on this idea. The ear we see seems to be a little odd, prospectively that is (on the left side of the canvas). Other than that wonderful work so far ? really can?t say anymore other than I hope you get to finish this!

Skittles-chan @ Wednesday, December 29th 2004, 5:38 AM
I agree that the perspective with the floor and such might be a little off, but not by very much. With sketches it's a little hard to tell how the lineart's going to turn out, but one other thing I noticed is that his neck seems a little too small. Of course, I have no idea exactly where you were planning to put the lines, but it looks a little off.
Anyhow, I like the face so far ^-^ The ears are really well done

I like the smooth ribbon like feel that this gives me at present. My only question might be that I think the hand plane is a little too long. Otherwise, it's a great start and I love her eyes! Great outfit too, very cool!

Love the costume and the skin tone. Pretty lady. :3 I like how you drew out the hair and the shine of the clothes and hair. Very nice...like the vines on top of the picture. :D

She's very pretty. Her dress is absolutely gorgeous. I'm definitely not an expert on hands, but I like hers. The fingers are long and elegant-looking. She looks like she might play the piano in her spare time. Lovely work.
