Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

This is my songstress char for a RP that I am planning, her name is Celestia. :) *_* I love my pic. bwee hee. o.o (especially the background)

Starisan @ Tuesday, January 11th 2005, 3:40 PM
oooo, prety colors. I like the folds in the dress and the dress edging especially well. I love the details on the plants, wow, the closer I look the more I see. great sensitivity on the string plucking.

Verna_Venisa @ Tuesday, January 11th 2005, 8:00 PM
This is very pretty, i love the colors you used and the waterfall effect in the bg. Her hair also looks very nice, i like the highlighting you used ^_^. Her face looks slightly lop-sided however, and her right bicep is slightly out of proprtion to the rest of her body. Other than that it looks great ^_^ very nice.

Kage Kitsune @ Wednesday, January 12th 2005, 1:53 AM
this is FREAKIN AWESOME!! my jaw dropped open when I saw this I SWEAR! one thing bugs me and that's her breast...which I do believe I can see nipple poking out now, didn't see that this morning O_o; I like the butterfly in her hair and the bachground...OMFG! that is such a great background, the rocks look odd but the flora and the waterfall are superb! Really great job Huntress ^_^ *nod*

darkrose @ Wednesday, January 12th 2005, 4:33 AM
ooh, wow. I love the background too. The water is lovely, and leaves are fantastic. Her dress looks like a giant flower petal, which is cool. The shading is just amazing, it's wonderfully done, and her hands are BEAUTIFUL. Great job.

HuntressD @ Wednesday, January 12th 2005, 4:50 AM
*slaps forehead* Why did you have to say "nipple"? now I see it too! ...it's an effect of the shading, really... because I sure as hell didn't draw any. XD XD XD

catboi incubus mishi @ Thursday, January 13th 2005, 2:47 PM
Ohh, she's so pretty! :) I love the colors and the peaceful atmosphere in this image, and I really like the details - the butterfly on her harp is my favorite. Actually, I think I would have liked the image more if more of the colors matched the soothing pinks and browns of the harp, but that's just me. Her proportions are very nice, and I can't really tell, but like someone else said - a nipple should be poking out about now, what with the way her dress is drooping. Anyway, but the only thing that really bothers me, I guess, is the waterfall - it looks almost rushed and like a last thought. I love those plants, they're so realistic. x)

Kaede @ Thursday, January 13th 2005, 8:03 PM
Wow this is really nice. I love your coloring, especially when it comes to the hair, and the leaves and the water. Those three things came out awesome. The leaves look so realistic. =0
And her hair looks so flowy and beautiful. This is really nice. ^^

Queen_Godzilla @ Sunday, February 6th 2005, 5:03 AM
Oo, love the flow of this piece. Everything's going diagonally and it has an organic movement to it. Love Celestia's hair and the patterns on the leaves and rocks and stuff. The body anatomy is a little wonky (her boobs should be facing the way the legs are facing, really. I think. or... the legs should be more to the front. Or something.) Nice, though. Very tropical.

krypto @ Monday, February 21st 2005, 4:07 PM

Wow, is the timer right? *pokes*

Anyway, yesh, another sketch. This one is my Drow character, Ydrah'Ska. When she was young, she got attacked by a monster. The creature drove her totally insane and ripped half of her face. Her family, hoping she might recover one day, casted a guadian (her hair changing in snake) to look over her. Sadly, she became more and more crazy, and killed her whole family.

Q: Another sketch?
A: Huh, yeah, I wanted to see if I could try something with the layers, and it worked. ^-^

Q: But still, you have two unfinished sketches.
A: I, huh,... Know. Your point?

Q: You're just a procrastinator who can't finish her pics!!! Sue you!
A: Yes, I love you too. Now, go play with a misfunctionnal lawnmover. (thanks to Shas-o for that one. ^_^).

Anyway, comment are always welcome!

Tigerhawk @ Friday, February 4th 2005, 2:49 AM
YAY!!!! You DID come! This is coming out great! Finish IT!!!

Totenmaske @ Friday, February 4th 2005, 6:19 AM
Well to quote you directly:
Q: But still, you have two unfinished sketches.
A: I, huh,... Know. Your point?

Totenmaske A: Well see the point is this, it is seen as spamming the board ? see rule 9 of Drowkaki. This is your first warning on this issue ? I am going to give you time to refine this image as well as finish the first image on the board ? if you have any trouble with either you can always email me and I?ll be happy to help. But really you should finish an image that you begin, especially since the first one can be considered gift art to Kern. Now that being said I have to agree I like the overall look of your images so far ? if you went over and refined your line art to something smoother it would be really impressive.
Btw this image is under the time limit of a minimum of 30 min ? yeah by two min, but still just have to inform you of that.

Now overall the expression of this character is fantastically rendered I really like the way you rendered the ears and well the hand gesture is very nice ? but like I have said it seems to need some refining. The colouring with this image, which I hope you will get around to ? especially after I have given you an official warning ? can be really interesting especially around the ?eye attachment. The snake is a nice touch btw ? btw the hair, you can experiment if you want to try to get an individual strand look with the application when you go to colour ? some people use highlight and burn tools. Just a little helpful info?

Now just finish your first image and then this ? and don?t forget to comment.

catboi incubus mishi @ Friday, February 4th 2005, 2:18 PM
Exactly, what Toten said. When you submit unfinished sketches, they push down other images that have been worked on a lot longer, and thus resulting in those images getting less comments. I think it would be wise for you to go over the rules once more, because this lackadaisical attitude you have about them isn't doing you any favors and also makes you look rude.

Right, well I\'ll get back to this probably tomorrow. It\'s gaming night, time to take off... but I didn\'t want to lose what I had. This will eventually be the Dark Goddess Loriana from my world, I haven\'t yet decided if she\'s wearing a mask or if she\'s just adjusted her face to be metallic <{^.^}>. Any comments or helpful tips would be appreciated now while I still have room to change things!

Yay! Done! Took a rather different turn than I had expected... but I did her hair and then the stars just begged to be put in, and it kind of went from there. So yah, any comments helpful. Loriana, Goddess of Darkness and Mother of Night.

Holy crap! Very very nice; the colors of the shades and highlights are perfect so far! :D

Starisan @ Monday, February 7th 2005, 3:17 PM
Great on the coloring, I could believe that it is her real face...If you think of it in terms of dawn being young and new, rebirth and night being the final stage of a day. I like the stars in her hair, my only comment would be that the day looks a little too bright to be heading into evening.

Karasu @ Tuesday, February 8th 2005, 12:41 AM
wow! How creative! I really love this, a lot! Since i live in new mexico, I should say that this is very southwestern themed. : ) you did a good job here on the shadng, but I think the eyes could have used a little more depth....the sunset is just gorgeous though! and I love the stars in the hair : )

Cai @ Tuesday, February 8th 2005, 11:11 PM
The metallic look of the mask/face is very very nice, though the shift from blue to gray to blue (forehead/upper face to lower face to chin) is a bit awkward. The night sky in her hair looks beautiful, though.

Her eyes also seem a bit unfocused for some reason. But overall, I'm impressed - I couldn't do something with watercolors like this. ^.^

Totenmaske @ Friday, February 11th 2005, 5:20 AM
Just to let you know darkrose, I?ve archived this image last night simply because I was really impressed with the overall look of this ? sorry about not getting to commenting in a timely fashion though. That being said I must say the reason I really like this image, is the fact that she reminds me of the ?Robot? in Fritz Lang?s Metropolis. There was a comment I thought, that said something about the way the transition of the faces blue seemed a little off ? but I don?t see it now for some reason, but I have to agree that there seems to be that kind of effect ? plus the eye seems a little out of proportion on the ?dawn/sunset? side of the canvas which gives it a rather wonky look mainly due to that eye. But still that does not mean that this image is anything other than exceptional.

That being said, I really like the overall look of the skyline, especially the nice cloud work is rather realistic with the way you have eased the overall look? not concentrating on fluffy clouds you seem to go with the more subtle indication of wispy work, which in my eye seems more realistic. The little sunlight rays are nice, as well. Frankly the image itself is impressive in this area more than anything else.

I also like the fact of the stars in her hair, truly come across as the coming of night. Everything seems to work wonderfully, except for the wonky aspect the eyes bring to the table not to mention that the more I look at it, the red lips seem to be a little too much colour for the scene ? taking away somewhat of the feel overall on canvas. But this I personally think is just my preference ? if you did the lips and eyes as you did the face (with that skin effect) I think the actual sense of transposing the two elements of night and day could have been brought further into the end product. But overall this is a fantastic image darkrose, hope to see more of the same attention to detail of the skyline as well as the face in general in your future images!

Prismatic @ Friday, February 11th 2005, 9:16 PM
This is a really beautiful piece of art. I'm loving it. Your use of color is so marvelous.
I really like the way it seems she's rolling in the night as the sun sets. Sort of reminds me of when Apollo rides his chariot to make the sun rise~ The stars in her hair are really pretty. She really does seem to be partially made up of the night sky.
The highlights and shading in her face are so good. There's so much depth there, she really does seem to be three dimensional. The softness of teh background is wonderful as well! I particualry like the rays of light coming from the sun.~~

darkrose @ Thursday, January 13th 2005, 6:11 AM
GRAAAAAR!!! OK, well the real purpose of this drawing was to express my intense frustration at NOT BEING ABLE TO DRAW. I have no tablet, I don't plan on owning one, everything digital I do is with a mouse. So I'm home for the holidays, away from my own computer and using my parents', and their mouse is RIDICULOUS. Even when you change the mousepad the dang thing sticks, skips, lags, cuts out, and any number of other nasty little things that make oekaki damn near impossible to do. And thus I decided to play with the imprecise art of watercolors, because I can make a whole lot of little clicks and swipes to try and do a picture without having any lineart or details (believe me, I tried to do both but to no avail).

*sigh* Ah, well. This didn't turn out half as bad as I'd expected it to, although I'm still not all that fond of it. I couldn't get the color smooth enough for my tastes, and the mouse kept skipping whenever I'd try to do little things like the nose or the eyes. Thus, the timer is actually acurate on this one, I have no idea what it is but it's true whatever it is. *Ahem*, this is a pixie from a new story I'm writing. Sort of based off the picts of the ancient British Isles, they are blue and have wierd hair (rather the texture of spaghetti, most keep it in cornrows or other such devices), large noses, small pointed ears, and they stand between two and three feet tall. They don't wear many clothes, living in a very tribal shamanistic kind of setting. Big deals for them are wearing plants around their ankles and wrists (and in their hair), large earrings (gold preferrable, because it's shiny and they LOOOOVE it), and generally decking themselves out in as much nifty stuff as possible (pearls, beads, shells, gold stuff), oh, and ceremonial tatoos for every occasion, name, social thingus and whatnot. This one is rather young, which is why she has only one large string of pearls and one large gold earring, with just the naming tatoo upon her forhead and her clan tatoo under her eyes.

Wow that was a long intro... comments welcome, although take this with a grain of salt because I was having a great deal of trouble. Thanks for your time!

catboi incubus mishi @ Thursday, January 13th 2005, 2:39 PM
Hey, darkrose! Glad to see you back! x) You did this with a touchpad? Hot damn, girl. xD I'm not going to go too hard on this, merely because I know it was pretty hard enough to draw in the first place!I think, if I had to find some 'problem' with this image, I would say her forehead - it juts out a lot and sort of bothers me. ^_^; But aside from that, this image is nothing short of beautiful! I love the shading, it's so tangible and her earring looks real. Great job! :D

Kaede @ Thursday, January 13th 2005, 8:23 PM
Wow, I personally thing your really really good with watercolors. I really like thespixie things, this one is very beautiful. Her eyes are nice to look at, and her lips are just beautiful. Even though you were stuck with a mouse that that, this turned out really really good. Your really good at realism. =0

celestial crou @ Friday, January 14th 2005, 4:38 AM
Dude i SO know what thats like. And i know how you can 'fix' that mouse prob. If by some crule twist of fate you and that mouse should cross paths again. LOL At least it sounds like the prob i had with my mouse. You have to take the ball out and then look inside the mouse. There will be these little roller things that make the mouse move. up down and the right left. If you find what look like well....a black rubber band with puffy stuff around it thats your prob. Thats all dead skin and C_ _ _ thats been flatened into a thin strip. So you have to remove those thingies and the mouse will work good as new! If not that....lo siento cause i cant help you. NOw im no comp wiz but thats what works.

Now for the piccy. This is a beutiful mix of colors. The BG is mellow and soft with complementary colored fairies? And the vine boarder....Thats quite elabrate for having absolutly no control over the mouse. The skin is shaded and highlighted to add depth which pulls the figure out. The BG and the FG work fantastic together. And the hair. We dont see those very often. Kudos to you!

darkrose @ Friday, January 14th 2005, 5:20 AM
Thanks Crou, although guess what? It's a lazer mouse! No ball to remove... it's just a crappy mouse. Ah, well... thanks for the help, though.

PS: Mishi, this better? I straightened out her forhead a little more, thanks for that. I missed it when eyeballing her before (but that's what these boards are for, right?) and while I was at it I decided to give her lips more definition and give her a nose stud. Just for fun <{^.^}>

catboi incubus mishi @ Saturday, January 15th 2005, 3:12 AM
Hoyes, much better! She's so pretty. x) I love the addition of the nose-ring. :3

Starisan @ Saturday, January 15th 2005, 4:35 AM
Hi! I like her eyes they are very realistic. The nose looks pretty well done too, maybe just a little wide at the top...great job with the jewelry, it looks very metallic. I like the effect of the blurred background, it makes it more photgraph like, to focus on the frontal image. The corn rows are a very unique and good looking idea. The nose stud seems to fit in with her character, I like that attention to detail. The symbols are nicely put as well, the are subtle but get their point a cross. I really like the way the neck turned out. Nice One!

Queen_Godzilla @ Friday, February 18th 2005, 12:20 AM
Gnome people. Like the Nac MacFeegles in the Terry Pratchett books, eh?

For something that was made with a mouse (and a glitchy one at that) this is freakin' incredible. Really. I feel that the painting style accurately represented the elements in the picture in terms of texture and lighting. She isn't flat, but rather 3-D. Aah, and so many little details like the nose ring and the eyelashes! Aya!

All I can think to critique is that her neck might be a bit short, but she's a stocky fae breed so that's probably not a problem.

Anyway, this is an old character of mine see her here http://www.drowtales.com/kaki/browsegallery.php?pic=32854&gallery=Ikena
I've been wanting to redraw her for a long time, she's all grown up now and such.
Altho she still doesnt have a name, I like Agatha but i dont know if that name suits a drow, what say you? any sugestion?

Well the marking in her forehead is a birthmark, she has the gift of foresight and the marking bleeds everytime she has a premonition or when she uses too much mana =3

Beautiful artwork. She has such a lovely face and the eyes are so cool. Love the flowing hair and the shape of her body. And the symbol on her forehead is neat looking. :D

darkrose @ Sunday, February 13th 2005, 9:35 PM
Yay! Yes, come back more often! I always enjoy your artwork. The shading is wonderful, it's so hard to find a skinny girl with MUSCLE, DAMNIT! Heh. So good on you for that. Her neck is overly long, but to me that just looks like stylization, and if that's your thing then run with it. Her expression is distand and kind of blank, which I think goes with your descriptor. Her hands are beautiful, excellent with that. Also the hair, it's graceful and flowing and nifty! So welcome back (I hope) and staystaystaystaystay!

Jennifer @ Sunday, February 13th 2005, 11:57 PM
She's so very pretty, Ikena. She looks like she is about to have a premonition. The way her hair is flowing and the red background seem to show that her premonition will be a powerfully ominous one. I do like the name Agatha for her, even if it doesn't seem like a drow-ish name. You could keep the name, just have it spelled something like A'gtha.
Love your work always.

Tigerhawk @ Monday, February 14th 2005, 4:03 AM
pretty much what i commented on Deviantart, still love the hair. The eyes are very pretty and the outfit very spiffy. the shading is very well done as well as the lighting. background was a good choice.

KHatch @ Tuesday, February 15th 2005, 6:07 AM
The neck seems a little too long for me, but everything else is nice.
Her forehead thingy looks like the one off of what was her name, Kyo'nne? From Drowtales.
I love the shiny of it all. =)

Starisan @ Tuesday, February 15th 2005, 2:21 PM
Her hair is very flowy, like it is moving in the breeze.

Kaiera @ Monday, February 7th 2005, 3:29 AM
My newest character: Felix the Drow. Personally, I think his story is quite interesting.....involving the death of his love and him searching his own soul following her death. I liked the couple, but I decided to kill her 'cause I'm sadistic :D I love a sad love story. Anyway, the necklace he wears has her ring on it. He never takes it off. Now, he's just looking at the sky for some reason. Thinking I suppose. The bg is totally random......heh. The coloring....I was just playing around.

KHatch @ Monday, February 7th 2005, 4:08 AM
I really like his flowy hair and the sad expression on his face. The mouth and eye really convey his emotion. I like it a lot!

darkrose @ Monday, February 7th 2005, 5:03 AM
Cool! I love the background, it reminds me of tie-dye. Nice job with the shading and folds, and his hair is particularly well done. Excellent work overall. The little details like the necklace and the collar really make this piece, well done.

olsie @ Monday, February 7th 2005, 11:52 AM
Well crap! (That his love died) The BG can be of something burning I suppose; that's what it most reminds me of...
And he could look above; because he would always look at the stars w/ his lover? It would make him very sad everytime he looked at the night sky everytime after her death. Sounds like a cliche thought; but this picture makes that lil mini story in mah head xD
The highlight that looks alittle out of place compared to the others is the one on his shoulder, because it seems to be in the wrong direction. and A highlight on his cheek would look right too. :)
I like the look he's givin' off; you are getting better and better at profiles :)

Kamourian King @ Monday, February 7th 2005, 11:00 PM
awww my stories are like that too XP i love the sky ^^ and the ring/ necklace reminds me of my story... (( but its a lockett, not a ring ^^;))

Karasu @ Tuesday, February 8th 2005, 12:40 AM
well, though you say that the background is random, it so happens to be my fav. part here in this picture! I think that maybe you could have done just a littttttle better on the shading of the shirt, but otherwise I really like this. What a sad story though!

catboi incubus mishi @ Tuesday, February 8th 2005, 3:00 PM
He's so pretty. :) Poor little guy, havin' his girlfriend die.. I really love the colors here, although I think perhaps the lighter green could have been a little darker. Wow, I hope that made sense. His shirt is just like the one I'm wearing today, except mine is black with stripes on the collar. x) Like Olsie said, you're getting a LOT bnetter with profiles and that's exciting - I love seeing artists I like improving! Yay! :D I love love love his hair. <3333 I also just the background, it almost looks like he's looking at the Aurora Borealis. I probably spelled that wrong. Keep up the good work, Kaiera! <3

Totenmaske @ Wednesday, February 9th 2005, 7:07 AM
Kaiera, there is always some kind of ?sick? fascination with tragic tales of lost love ? though saying that, I too have a rather guilty pleasure of enjoying pieces that actually work the sense of emotional lose into characters. Though it always tends to be the girlfriend that is lost in quite a few character tragedies ? which somewhat hits home on so many merits for a few people ? thus bringing a little more emotion to a piece than what is truly there. But overall the impact of the back-story really delivers in this image and this character, Kaiera, presents to the viewer a rather wonderful piece.

Particularly in the colouring in which you bring out the sunken/sorrowful look to his face. I love the lighting to his dark skin and the slight lack of colouring in the eye to give that slight ?wet look? (lack to me is the fact that you didn?t complete the pupil) which is such a nice little touch of realism the sense of emotion in the image. The fold work in this image is rather nicely done ? though for some reason I always think green comes across too plastic like when you go into lighting (not you in general, just solid hues of green tend to create a rather odd effect when doing lighting on fabric ? from personal experience as well as what I view here). But clothing wise everything seems fine, and the thick fabric that is used to hang the ring around his neck is a nicely done in deforming the collar of his shirt. The ring though seems a little deformed? maybe you could work that into the story of how she died? slight distortion of the ring and the way she ?passed on.?

Killing off characters seems to be something people do, even though at times we find that we need to return reestablish the dead character ? mostly in some kind of ploy of rendering a moment before they died, and that is something I recommend you do Kaiera ? show us a moment before she died, that would be interesting. Other than that little personal comment, I think you did a wonderful job overall in this image ? particularly in colouring the hair, it is so hard to work shading on white hair. The background though something you just did, is very pleasing, and frankly something I particularly love a lot about this image. Though I particularly like everything about this image ? the line art, the colouring, the character?s emotion. Wonderful post, I hope to see more ;3

Prismatic @ Thursday, February 10th 2005, 10:03 AM
Felix.. yaay! Even though the background is so random I think it's great. I love the mixture of colors.

Hmm... the name definitely sounds familiar... <{^ ^}> Welcome back! This is lovely lineart, I have to admit, and the variations of color used for shading are very lovely. A little extreme in places, but still you did a fantastic job. I like the cat eyes on the black haired one, and the eye on the red haired one is very beautifully done.. Their hair is very shiny :)... My biggest beef is really just nitpicking. The cat-eyed guy's cheekbone is highlighted in a wierd way on the side furthest from our perspective... and his hair hangs over a shiny spot without shadow on that same side. Yeah, that's all I got... this is really wonderful work! Welcome back!

Prismatic @ Thursday, February 3rd 2005, 8:16 AM
The colors you used for the skin tones are nice. And of course the multiple tones give it a lot of depth. I never have been able to shade with solids. I specifically like the red heads eye. And the shineyness of thier hair!

I've had moments like that... my fighter, JT, only had enough gold for one room in the inn, so he bought the room for the lady they were protecting and decided to sleep outside. Now they've been having trouble with guards and wild animals like bears and wolves, so he thinks he'll sleep in a tree. He makes sure he has rope, so he can secure himself up there and make a little hammoc or something. Great plan, right? So he makes his climb, fails the first rope check, then a second rope check, and then two reflex saves (one made, one failed). What happened was as follows:

Jt climbed the tree and pulled out the rope. He managed to tie his hands together and get a little tangled before the rope coiled around the hilt of his sword and pulled it out of the sheath dangling it about five feet below him still attatched to the rope. JT leaned over to pull up the sword, lost his balance, over-corrected, and fell off the other side. The sword (yup, still on the rope) headed up towards JT as he fell, rather like a pulley system, but he managed to dodge it before he fell hard on his back on the ground. As he lay there in pain, rather winded, he failed to notice the sword coming back down after rounding the branch. It impaled him to the ground, securing him in place.

So the party finds JT bleeding to death, tied in rope, impaled by his own sword to the ground and completely unable to move. He did this completely on his own. THey have never stopped mocking him for that.

So! Great picture, I wish to see more when it is more done-like. I will actually comment on the image when that happens... I just thought you'd be amused by the story. <{^.^}>;;

EDIT: Ok, I guess I needed to address a few things here.
1) This is a Hellsing fanchar of mine, though not a defining piece, it does technically fall into the fantasy category. I\'m sorry if you disagree.

2) Where in the rules does it forbid members to post more than once per day? I\'m sorry if I\'ve done wrong, but I read the rules and it wasn\'t mentioned anywhere that I could find.

And 3) Um, I do post at least 5 comments per post, read my statusbar?

Ye Gods, I\'m sure you\'re trying to help, but it\'s rather confusing.

Interesting... Millenium... what anime was that from again? I don\'t remember... anyways, this is a beautiful image. Lovely design, I like the blood spatters. Her legs fold a little wierd, but they\'re really hard to draw and you made a fantastic effort. THe overall effect is really very good, I like it a lot. I especially love the little cuts out of the lettering... makes it look kind of rusty or something.

Still, this is your second post in the same day right in a row (see previous comment), and it's not exactly fantasty from what I can see. That's another rule, the material on this board is limited to fantasy only (which your first post was perfect for).

(Edited on January 31, 2005, 7:16 am)

catboi incubus mishi @ Monday, January 31st 2005, 2:38 PM
I agree with darkrose. I suggest you read over the rules again to see what you can and cannot do on this board and everything will be hunky-dory - also, be sure to comment on others, at least five comments for every one image you draw. ^^

Harlequin @ Tuesday, February 1st 2005, 5:24 AM
Millenium is in Hellsing. Yay Hellsing.

I like the simplicity of this, the black and white of the figure really make him or her stand out. I love the flowy motion to the hair. That's something I personally have trouble with, showing proper amounts of motion in hair. I'll have to keep this comment short as I don't really have a lot of time here, but all in all I like this, and before I forget:

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! *throws confetti*

Prismatic @ Thursday, February 3rd 2005, 8:18 AM
I like the pose on this. And the simplicity in color. Solids with um.. I don't know what they're called.. half-tones? is always something else I have enjoyed~

celestial crou @ Saturday, February 5th 2005, 12:06 AM
I'm sorry but i'm gonna have to disagree to who ever said this wasnt fantasy. Hellsing (right?) is a vampire manga. Hence this character is eather a slayer or a vampire or a potential victom (harle would know more i just borrow). If you look close you will notice there isnt a shadow. some vampire superstitions state that as a vampire characteristic. Like no reflection and such. Its up to the artist how much or little significance those details are. Like in art sometimes little details are the most important aspect of the piece. Giving an other wise "eye candy piece" a meaning, or moral.

So this piece is lagit. The other rules you have questions on i really dont know. I am never one to read the rules. I just had someone Summarize it. Scifi/ fantasy only. and i thnk its more common curtisy to post only once. People HAVE posted 2 in one day before. I myself infact. but i dont do it regularly. But the rules are supp[osed to be updatd now. so perhaps youll find your answers there?

NOW for this piece. The hair is beutiful. So pretty and flowing strands. reminds me of chobits. The blood draws you to the character. and the simple BG makes the black quite evident.

WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!! I thnk once you get past 14 pics youll be used to the rules. All artists approach problems at a different angle. So dont worry so much, just express yourself in scifi and fantasy.

Ikena @ Sunday, February 13th 2005, 4:12 PM

Prismatic @ Friday, February 11th 2005, 10:06 PM
Very very good! There are very few people that can do pixel shading as well as you. I envy your skill! hehe.
The lineart on this is so crisp and clean. Yep, crisp indeed. Even if that word can't normally be used in art. I dunno.~
I like the layers of the background, all nifty like. And their eyes are really good.
And the hat!~

darkrose @ Saturday, January 29th 2005, 10:28 PM
Could be better, yes. But there are a lot of good things here, the character concept is quite nifty and you put detail on the blouse that looks like embroidery. The colors are nice, I love the colors. The fabric is what bothers me most, I think... it doesn't quite fold right. His face is good, his hair is good, now you need to work on fabrics and perhaps hands, although you made an excellent attempt at those weird hand gestures for making seals. In any case, this looks really not bad overall, a little working out of details things and it'll be really great.

christabel @ Sunday, January 30th 2005, 9:39 PM
XD Dude. I totally understand rushing because you're sleepy.

I really dig what you did with the background! and the face is done quite well! :d Also, I like that you added detailing to his shirt ^^ It adds so much.

Skittles-chan @ Tuesday, February 1st 2005, 12:18 AM
I like the concept, and the embroidery. He's a bit too stiff, though. For a character like this I would do something more dynamic. And there's a distinct lack of shading on his skin, particularly his stomach, considering how much is on his clothing, and that the talisman is apparently glowing.

Kwetha @ Wednesday, February 2nd 2005, 9:10 PM
I really like the character design in this, but maybe you cuold have done a little more shading? like, using darker and lighter colours and more mid-tones maybe. That being said, I really like what you did with the hair, and your lineart is so clean! In shi painter I just go "whee! sketchy! scribbley! Yay!" and I also like the detail on his shirt thing, that's very nifty. It's just the lack of shading bothering me really, as this would be really, really cool with just a bit more, especially on the clothes and skin.

Prismatic @ Sunday, February 6th 2005, 10:49 PM
I like the colors you used in this piece. A sort of sunsetty background with wispy clouds. The shape of their face and positioning of their features looks nice. I like the eyes in particular. Maybe a wee bit of shading on the skin would of added a little more dimension to them. Pretty staff! I wouldn't mind having one like that.~

Pshhh Sumi, You have a style.
I could tell your artwork from a mile away. Ok well not a mile, my eyes arent that good, I'd have to be close up, but you get the point. x3
This profile, is... wow.. amazing. First off. I really like the profile, and then the goggles things, and how they have the shine on them. I can never get that to work, it always looks funny.
I also LOVE the hair.Just the way its colored is grand. Coarse I always like your coloring. Then I like the sun in the back, and the clouds, it looks sooo realistic.
^^-puts on a 'I <3 Sumi' shirt over.. alll other shirts that are stolen with phrases on them- Shirts that say stuff rock. I need a shirt that says that.
Anyway, this is grand. And im never gonna get over that profile. It is sooo good. o.o;

darkrose @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 6:46 AM
ooh pretty! You did a really great job fitting the character into the background, using the right color scheme and lighting design to really make this flow. It's also beautifully composed, with some truly lovely effects. The goggles seem to be a little off, but I'm not sure how, it's just the angle of the tilt of the face and the goggles don't seem to match. Hard to explain, and it might just be me being silly. Fantastic image.

Starisan @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 4:22 PM
Wow, this is very mysterious. Reminds me of an adventurer looking to the goal. Beautiful technique. I love the sort of amber lighting of sunset (or rise). The hair is so detailed...amazing. I love it.

Lady_Sea @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 8:52 PM
Oh my. The coloring in this is really superb. The first thing that caught my attention was the googles and the background. I really like the reflection/light effect in the goggles. You really captured the effect well. Before I move onto the background, another thing I want to point out that I like is the hair. It has the beautifully done flowing look to it, as wind were to be brushing through it. And as for the background, that sunset is just gorgeous! I like how you made the light of the sun wobbly through the atmosphere of the sky. You really accomplished that gracefully. Brilliant work.

Carbuncle @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 10:21 PM
ohh wow this pice is just so... good!! I love it I dunno why but it remindes me of a AlBhed from FFX... mayhapps it's the goggles? I dunno but I love the city of in the distance its so solem!! I love it keep it up!

Kari Maxwell @ Sunday, January 9th 2005, 7:31 AM
Wow... this really reminds me of Jak 3 for some reason. I think it's the colours and how they blend together so well. I don't know if anyone else sees it, but in the sand area, just below that dome building thing, in the shading... I swear I see a body theer... And it looks like a football player or something. lol I'm a dork for mentioning it, but I swear to you I see it.

KHatch @ Tuesday, January 11th 2005, 6:45 AM

Ffff. silly angel. Wanting to visit earth.e_e
-Pokes you with Spork Aka Benji- Nee your style.. its changed alot. This is really pretty. I love her face, and her hair, and of coarse the coloring. The shirt was colored so amazingly good, and I just love the pose all together. Nice job on the wings too. =D

Starisan @ Friday, January 7th 2005, 10:26 PM
Captured eh? Well she doesn't look to upset, was she captured by friends? Or maybe she's thiking that she can bust out of those ropes at any moment and that who ever captured her was silly...anyhow, I really like the drawing. I like that background cross hatching a lot with the bold lines. I like the markings that you put on her face, it seems to give it a cool ethnic feel. I also wanted to say that you did a great job with the shading and the highlights. I also like that her hair feels as thoughit has volume even though you don't highlight it. The wings are cool too! Nice one :)

darkrose @ Friday, January 7th 2005, 10:34 PM
For being all tied up she doesn't look all that upset... lovely picture here. I love the background and how you did the wings, everything is so clean and lovely it's too cool. Her face markings intrigue me, I like them a lot, and the folds on her shirt where the rope ties around are really well done.

Queen_Godzilla @ Sunday, February 6th 2005, 4:39 AM
A very stylized image, more like it.

I love the soft coloring of the angel and her clothes. It's very airbrushed and smooth. She has nice body proportions and smooth line art too. It just works really well for me. I like her idealized wings and how they're not in color, but rather in straight black and white like that background. Interesting background pattern by the way. Looks like it could be a webpage graphic.

darkrose @ Thursday, January 6th 2005, 2:03 AM
wooooow... purple. <{^ ^}> OK so all jok ing aside this is AWESOME. The metal effect is fantastic, the glow is amazing. The character looks very wild from his appearance, but those eyes are calm. His face is very set, he's obviously a stubborn character. The dark shading under his eyes makes him look formidable, but also maybe a touch weary. The clothing is fantastically designed, complete with jeweled necklace and fur trimmed doublet. The water in the background is immensely eye-catching, and his hair reflects some of the same shifting color and motion as the rest, it blends so perfectly. It's often difficult to make a character really fit into their respective backgrounds, but this is amazing. Good job.

KHatch @ Thursday, January 6th 2005, 4:16 AM
I like this a lot. The image is still a cartoon, so to speak, with lineart and whatnot, but it's a very realistic one, with the shadnig and overall colouring absolutely superb. The nose and lips are especially nice, and the shiny look to everything is beautiful. I love it! Very nice.

Starisan @ Thursday, January 6th 2005, 3:38 PM
wow, this is cool, very futuristic. I like all the organic lines. It's got a watercolor like quality too it. I also find the electric like background interesting. I think you made a good choice with the green eyes because they are so different fron the rest of your palette so they stand out and seem to glow.

First of all, all the detail in this is amazing. Second, I love the colour scheme - very dark and it works. Also the way you've hilighted and made thinks shine are very interesting and it looks uber-pretty.

The character looks genuinely sad, but.. more like just discontented... And you've got a nice background, even though I can't tell what it is. (I think it's a reflection of trees in water, right?)

Awesome picture. Really well done.

I absolutelye love the colors in this. It's not often that a landscape background is a weird hue. I love how everything has a glow to it. I dunno. Everything's luminescent, and I love luminescence. Really.

His eyes are kinda haunted. It's scary when you look at him. But OH, for those costume details! @_@ ... Lord. The hair string crown, the metal plates, the fur lining, the jewels, the patterned fabric, the spikes, the giant jewel. Whoa... There's so much in this picture. It's rich and I love it.

sweet! Rock on with shading. You go. Beautiful lineart, and the hair and the background are wonderful, and the shading on his torso and the way you actually made his shirt look like it's soaking up water. Totally excellent. One other thing that wet clothing does is cling, a lot, making large tight wrinkes to itself and the skin and there's color bleeding (depending on the texture and weight of the fabric). Just something to keep in mind for next time <{^.^}>. That tree in the background rocks my world, though.

KHatch @ Thursday, January 6th 2005, 4:19 AM
The face is so well done. I like how you have the shape of the head under the hair accutarely done, some people, including myself, have a hard time making sure there's enough head under the hair, or in my case a lot, there's too much head. o.O
The hair is pretty, and the tree in the BG is cute. I like it a lot. YAY!

Thirdly, I love his lips, you REALLY did a nice job on the lips, and then the detail to the chest is just grand! I really love his chest.
Now moving on to the shirt. I like how you darkened the coloring to show that his shirt is wet. That is some good detail, that..... >.>; I would of easily forgotten which perhaps is probably why I think it is so amazing. xD Or maybe im just easily amazed hm?...-_- Oh shut up benjiman.

Ok 1)I classified this as adult because he's not wearing very much other than a loincloth
2) Please do NOT tell me what is wrong with this picture. Somethings have happened in \"the real world\" as I like to call it and all I've been getting lately is all the negative crap. Don't want it. Instead I find it MORE helpful if you would tell me what I did good or improved on. Hello I have eyes too, I can see my mistakes plain as day. I'm my own worst critic. I'm dead serious about this. No this is NOT A RANT. I'm making this clear.

As for my picture, yes I do see he has no nipples. Why? B/c he wasn't born in an embryo and he was geneticly altared. Yes his hair is a little weird. and so is that loincloth looking-thing. One leg is over the other just incase you didn't relize it..

Now, to help you understand this picture----- the feathers represent memories that don't exist but they're there and they're also lost memories from his past life when he was a god. The feathers on on the ethreal plane so insome case they arn't there ither but yet again they're there. (there is no spoon-gag) My character Damon had a tough life.
Please sit back and relax as you read a \"brief\" story about him.

Damon is the reincarnation of the once living god known as Daemon (pronounced -die-A-mon) A few Scientists decided they wanted to bring back this god to find their Goddess Pryrinus (pr-I-rin-us), but the scientist found out he was too powerful to sustain a physical body for them to control so they tampered with his genes. He had to find the Goddess Pryrinus before his 19th cycle or he'll die. His \"mother\" and his \"father\" were the rulers of Olokoss (the 3rd planet of his solar system) like king and queen of the planet. His \"father\" died in a war with the near by planet Solnura and his \"mother\" was assassinated in front of him at his 6th cycle. He than was transfer to a military base called Head Quarters (HQ) It was HQ that killed both his \"parents\" just so they could have him but he doesn't know that, yet. He doesn't even know that he was born in a lab. He learned to control his power at an incredible rate. Damon also met his rival there, Orion ?Pyro? Okuribi, they both became to what we know as \"5 star generals\" the highest-ranking officer you can get to. Now on to Damon's personality, He's very quiet, too quiet sometimes but talks when needed and to throw insults at Pyro. Damon is very arrogant and knows something?s up with HQ but he can't place a finger on it. He's also very intelligent. Damon is also very deep emotional but acts like he has none. Damon has a hard time dealing with love because he's never been in contact with love EVER. Forms of friendship, yes, but love no.

So you see, because he had never been associated with love, he feels much agony and pain. Why I gave him black feathers other than they were \"empty memories\". He's also actually sleeping.
Ok sorry for writing all of this. And thank you for those of you who read what I wrote, I bow to you all. I worship you.
