Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

one day a young angel boy fell from the skies, in a world where dragons rule. he is rescued and lives i this world. his wings were broken, and see how faintly the halo glows. one day he will fly again, one day he shall be a hero, one day the dragons will go and one day he will return from whence he came. one day...

Sumi @ Wednesday, April 6th 2005, 6:08 PM
I like the little story bit. It's nice how you coloured the water through his wings so make it looks like he's lost feathers since he broke them. And his poor halo. :'( Nice work.

The_Infamous_Pumpkin @ Friday, April 8th 2005, 5:50 PM
aww. ;_; Thats a sad story. -Snug em'- Hes so cute. I luff.

Prismatic @ Monday, April 25th 2005, 6:47 PM
I have to agree that that is a nifty yet sad story. It really lets the imagination travel over the possibilities. I really like the softness of this piece. Everything is so dark and pretty. I also enjoy that the boy is the main focus, being he isn't all blurry. Nice job on the mountains and water, and figure of the dragon in the distance.~

Verna_Venisa @ Saturday, April 9th 2005, 12:31 PM
this looks amazing, i like the water-colory look of it. His hair seems a little straw-ish because it is so thick at the end but it isn't a big deal really. I <3 his eyes, it makes him look really exotic ^^

Jennifer, The Blue Narian @ Sunday, April 10th 2005, 5:30 PM
You don't see these fellows drawn much. Very cool.

Not sure what the gold thing at the bottom is, but his face and eyes are captivating. I also adore that background. Simple, helps pop the character out more, and some how suits him.

Prismatic @ Monday, April 25th 2005, 6:51 PM
I really like the perspective you drew this from. It's all sorts of neat, and of course as others have stated his eyes are fantastic. I like the checkered background with bits of.. um.. I dunno? flame reflections on them? His pose is nifty, andI like the shine you gave his horns. And the positioning you put his wings in.~~

Safety Save

The blonde one is Seji and is the 10/11 year old version of the baby from this pic http://www.drowtales.com/kaki/pictures/14847.png

Yes he's male.

The orange haired fellow is Yumi, a half human, half Nekagi Demon in full demon form. Not sure if I want to give him a tail though since he is half human. Watch the animation to see his huma form.

Normaly, Yumi wears red, but since his hair and skin color changes so drasticly when in demon form, he's barrowing his dad's shirt here.

Can also see older renditions of Seji and Yumi here (angelfire is evil so you got to copt the addy and paste it in a new window. DO NOT just click it) http://www.angelfire.com/art/ryuyujin/images/DN3magic.jpg

The third character in that pic is Yurimaho (Yuri-chan and my avatar here) I'll be adding her in the background.

Queen_Godzilla @ Tuesday, April 12th 2005, 7:34 PM
I love the colors and how wispy this is, but I cringe at the anatomy.

Her butt is awkward, and her shoulder seem slanted in an odd direction against her hips (and possibly her shoulders aren't wide enough either.) The face also needs to have the proper profile contours. Please continue to draw and study anatomy.

Beautiful cat girl. Honestly. Everything is so smooth and curvy and feminine, which works well with this. Everything on her is so dainty -- her lips, her feet, and her breasts. So small and cute! Lovely colors as always.

The one critique I have is on the breasts. They seem to be oddly placed or some such. I know they're meant to be petite breasts, but there seems to be just something off about them. Maybe they need to be wider, or moved into a different position. I can't really tell myself.

i love this, teh rays of light comig though teh dark clouds is a rewally clever effect!!
ther skylins looks a littil too defined, if you look at skys meeting seas, its hard too tell where one begins and teh other ends, they sort of merge.
nice pic anyway!!!! =3

Karasu @ Friday, March 4th 2005, 5:00 PM
Ah, so. : )

I think that you did a good job here for lighting, and the sunset is beautiful, perhaps a little more color blending though? I like how you have it matching his hair and what not, I think thats what you were trying to do? But. Ifn ot, what a neat coincidence!

Dont really have muich else to say....except.. I thnk a litttttttttttle highlighting on the top of the wave there would do just the perfect fnishing touch for ths piture. : )

Ikena @ Saturday, March 5th 2005, 12:53 PM
Ah is very pretty indeed, I wish I could see his face.. =3 this seing the back of his head makes you imagine what kind of expression he has =3
The sea looks beautiful and the wave is greatly done!
The only suggestion I would make is that, if he is a drow then he has pointy ears no? I think they should be showing poking out of his hair.. =3, anyway other than that I really like this pic, so calm and nice, ah and i just noticed the pretty clouds and the nice effect of the sun! =3

I don't think sunsets and sunrises are all that hard to do, actually. I like doing them myself. You did a really good job with this one. Very nice stormheads and good job with the light rays. I especially adore your clouds. I dunno. I just like how everything works together. o_o

Okay...all done now...this is the longest I have spent on any oekaki and this is the most detailed I have ever done...I hope everyone likes it...On all the oekaki boards I am on I have yet to have any picture Archived, so I am going to try hard and do my best to hopefully get any of my art archived one day...

Anyway, there really isn't a story to this pic...I just wanted to do something in that pose and the pose made me feel it should be sad...and I was feeling lonely at the time so that's where the background comes into play...I've never been good at BGs....anywho, I hope everyone enjoys it...^_^

Real nice strat so far. Nice pose and anatomy. O bet there is a story behind this one too. Would love to hear it.

Just a sujestion. I realize it's not done yet, but just to tie the image together better, might want to put some of the same heavey lines as you got on the figure on the nearest parts of the background. Not the entire back ground mind... lines getting thinner and fadeing to lineless should help give a sense of distance/depth.

But I am a odd duck, so feel free to pay me no mind. ^_-

mazilwolf @ Thursday, March 3rd 2005, 3:20 PM
awww, she looks sad and all alone.... kind of reminds me of the saying:
there is always a light at the end of a dark tunnel.
the deatail on the background and teh floor is uber kool so far.
the hand that curls around her foot looks a little squiffy. but tyhe otherone is just great!(not in a position to mention badly drawn hands...)

bakabaka @ Friday, March 11th 2005, 2:08 PM
I can definately tell you put 110% into this. =3 It shows.

The pose and the way she's holding herself is my favorite part of the entire pic. Just the little details, like her fingers entwined in her toes, along with the slumped wings and posture.

You did a great job with the line-less-ness as well. The colors are fantastic, and the shading is impecible.

<3 the background as well. It has a very good sense of depth, which I love. That's difficult to do. =3

*two thumbs up* Love it.

Queen_Godzilla @ Tuesday, April 12th 2005, 6:30 PM
Brava, girl. Brava. You DID give 110% on this, indeed.

Wonderful anatomy, I can't fault it. Nice painting technique all around: you kept the line art at a uniform smoothness and correctly gauged the level of the shadows and highlights. Also a plus on the textures.

But, a critique. Your light source.

The only visible source is behind her in the tunnel. Therefore, it would stand to logic that the front half of her would be in shadow while her back would be highlighted. As it is currently, I seem to see the light simultaneously coming from the north-west as well as from directly above. Noooo... unless there's a light hole directly above her, you might want to retry the lighting job.

It's hard, but doable.

And that's all I have to say.

As a suggestion, maybe make her hand a bit bigger (should be as big as her face) and the shoulders are supposed to be as wide as her hips (not so broad) :)

Mouse @ Wednesday, March 9th 2005, 8:14 PM
Wow.. It must have taken forever to get the details down on that dress! Good idea for focusing with the shadey plants and butterflies.

Queen_Godzilla @ Tuesday, April 12th 2005, 6:01 PM
I like her dress design. It's very floral, and I like how the floral details aren't defined, just having a very good implication of flowers. Very southern belle, eh?

I see a few things you could improve upon. Here again you have inconsistances in your line art, some of it being smooth and some being sharply defined. I realize how hard it is to blur or not blur an item, but I feel this is something you should work on. Work on your hand anatomy as well :D

okey-dokey. about done with this one. she's Cinainon, a shadowyn. Shadowyns are a race i created not long ago, to sort of serve as antagonist in a story i created. They are a peculiar race, almost nothing is known about them except the decorations where ears would be may denote rank. their bodies are not solid, they are slightly vaporous. they appear at dusk and night, hiding in the shadows. their quirky mask-like faces are decoys, their real faces have never been seen except for an exceptionally large mouth filled with shark-like teeth.

i recently drew a hole bunch of these guys for an Illustration class, 6 as circus characters. ended up looking very tim burton-y.

What a pretty, evil thing! <333

Harlequin @ Monday, February 28th 2005, 2:43 AM
You know, I really like the concept behind this. And of course the execution, well that's just snazzy. The lineart is nice and smooth LOVE that. The hair is shaded ever so nicely, and the tiny spikes really give it a nice sense of the jaggedness to it. Very lovely. The ear bits...they remind me of this really funky pair of earmuffs I saw once. lol The colors used make them stand out just enough, but not too much. The whole 'alternate face' idea, well not only do I like that, but I've used it in the past myself. Come to think of it I just found one of those old sketches last week while cleaning my room. lol In any event I really like that blue eyeshadow, and the style of the eyes is very nice. Choosing to not draw the bottom of the eyes in, and just imply them was definately the way to go. The smile...well, that just makes me smile in an oh so very evil way. Wonderful expression to the mask face. The body being solid black is a bit of a bold move graphically, but with the yellow/orange background I think you've really managed to pull it off here. The arm to the left side of the canvas appears a little shaky, especially on the side closest to the body. The arm on the right side of the canvas though, that is just well done. The proportion looks accurate, and that hand. That is a DAMN NICE hand. The slightly differing thickness to the lines really accentuates that fist, and the lines where the knuckles would be really add a nice sense of detail. Very well done piece, I really like it, especially the little backstory. Draw more of this little 'species' sometime, I'd love to see what more of them look like.

kyokurrychan @ Monday, February 28th 2005, 1:16 PM

Prismatic @ Tuesday, March 1st 2005, 9:08 PM
Neato conceptness. Hehe.. I love Tim Burton. That must have been a groovy art project.
I like the swirly mass of color in the background of this. And of course the subject is great. Very nice lineart, love the mask like expression. And the hint of eyes on their shirt? That's pretty groovy. Nifty ear decorations as well.
I'm really liking their hand and eyes, those are my favorite parts I believe. And the subtle shading in the hair.~~

darkrose @ Wednesday, March 2nd 2005, 1:31 PM
Nifty. Her face reminds me of the Joker... which I'm sure isn't the intention, but it rocks anyway. That grin, those eyes, the shading is simply wonderful, and the anatomy is sound. This is very stylistic and overall very nifty, with great texture and I rather like the minimalistic shading.

mazilwolf @ Wednesday, March 2nd 2005, 3:14 PM

Mouse @ Wednesday, March 9th 2005, 8:19 PM
This's an interesting one. I take it the hair's part of the mask as well? Gives one a whole new look at facemasks! The ear ornaments are a neat idea, can't think of anything else offhand that denotes rank in such a way.

Queen_Godzilla @ Tuesday, April 12th 2005, 5:26 PM
I like the contrast present in this piece. You put a bunch of neutral colors against a warm-colored busy background. It really sets each part in front with an equal presentation.

Nice facial and body proportions, looks like everything's even (except the huge mouth, but that's how they are so I'm not counting off points or anything *LOLz*.) The solid black was a good design decision in my opinion. Very modern art-y. It also conveys their shadow side. The expression is nice as well.

I don't see anything I can really critique, so YAY! :D

(This is the very short version, i'll expand later.)
His name is Shiiyu. He committed suicide, but a higher power saw it that he must stay on the earth plane. So he was turned into a grim reaper of sorts, so hes chained to death, but will never be able to embrace it and die himself.

Not sure if this is done or not, but as mentioned before a background would really add a lot to this picture. the shading is very nice, and I really like how you added pixels to it, particularly in the vest and wings.
Their expression is great. They look as though they are really pained about having a skull chained to their wrist. Is there a story to this?~

Okay, done. Though it's one away from going to the second page so no one is probaly going to see the finished peice. ^^;

Any way........ Hair o Doom... sheesh. Must remeber not to do face shots that big any more. O.o Also I don't think I like Dathom's redesign to well.

This is hopefully the start of a serioes of pictures of the 'family like relationships' that go on in my stories.

The woman in the back is the Dark Lady. A sinister figure that manipulates things from behind the scenes and yet is doing it for a good reason and genuinly views those she manipulates as her 'children'. She'll go drasticly out of her way to insure some good happens for them dispite the hell she often puts them threw.

The fox boy is that... a young kitsune named Dathon. He is the Dark Lady's prodige (mangled spelling) and loyal servant. He and Seji are the dearest of her 'children'. Dathon is mostly a healer but he can't heal himself. Also he has a 'randombility' factor. Meaning he can teleport instantly to any where within the Three Worlds but he can't control where he ends up to well. Its either random or 'where he is most needed'. The Dark Lady will also lend him her powers from time to time.

Now the only thing Dathon has ever asked in return for his loyalty and service is a brother. And thats where Seji, the blonde little boy, comes in. The Dark Lady had to make sure a Guardian of "earth and blood" was born to guard the third Lesser Dragon God when it was reincarnated so she barrowed (realy stole but she does give it back later) the powers of the Gold Dragon and uses them and a shard from the Sphere of Life to create Seji. She then gave the child to Dathon to raise.

Seji is human since the Dark Lady used a human soul, but should the shard in his right hand ever be removed, he'll slip into a coma and eventuay die. He turns out to be quiet a happy-go-lucky kid with a tendancy to pull pranks. The perfect companion for a kitsune.

These three form a very strange yet very blissful family for the first six years of Seji's life. Then Fate and Destiny intervine and Seji is taken away.

For some of the story about all this check out Destiny http://www.angelfire.com/art/ryuyujin/dn3st1.html and Lost and Found http://www.angelfire.com/art/ryuyujin/dn3st3.html .
