Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

Inspired by the Christmas Carol "Here We Come A-Wassailing".

From left to right is Shire (mine), Dhell (Windy's), Jiji (Mishi's), Catboi (Mishi's), Kale (Ikena's), and Fron (mine). Oh and the little blue ball is Satan (my lil bro's).

Happy birthday Windy and Almalthia!

shuzo @ Tuesday, December 13th 2005, 9:57 PM
Alrighty, most of you probably don't have a clue who I am! Yay :)
Anyway, I used to come here a long time ago. But that's not the point. The point is, I HATE MY COMPUTER MOUSE.

See, funny story. Dad moved out of the house, taking the good computer with him. I'm stuck with my mom's crappy work computer. I recently found out that my lovely wacom ISN'T COMPATABLE WITH THIS POS COMPUTER. Dangit ;.;
So this is my namesake character/muse, who is very picky about how she is drawn. She's really mad at me now, because I can't draw with a mouse so now her anatomy is all wonky, the lines are ugly and the coloring is shoddy :) Not to mention I forgot to put anything for her to lean on, so she's leaning on thin air. YEI!
Anyway, not my normal coloring style. I played with semi-solids a bit :)

Renmazuo @ Tuesday, December 13th 2005, 11:50 PM
Ah, what's a POS computerO_O???
XD I'm just glad my characters can't get angry at me...i thinkT_T;;
I really like how you coloured her top, it kinda looks as if it was made of syntetic stuff?w?
And how do you know there's nothing under there, it could be out of the frame*puts a giant piece of cheese under her arms*
MMMH, sheese!

Queen_Godzilla @ Wednesday, December 14th 2005, 6:18 AM
Renmazuo -- 'POS' stands for *ahem* 'Piece of sh**.' Lovely, huh?

Artist -- You have good arm and body structure on this figure and managed to do well enough with the mouse.

As for the mouse -- Is it a ball mouse (y'know, with a rolling ball and not a red laser?) because, if it is, you should pop off the ball-cap and see if there's gunk on the wheels. Pick out the gunk with nails, or anything flat and pointy. Voila! It works wonders.

shuzo @ Wednesday, December 14th 2005, 6:38 AM
heh, thanks- but I still hate the anatomy. And I already tried cleaning the wheels ;.; It's just an old mouse, doesn't work worth a crap anymore. Thanks for the advice and comment though.

Pooky @ Sunday, December 18th 2005, 6:24 PM
I think you did pretty well with that mouse. The only place where I can see strange lines are on her elbow.

The coloring looks cool, and the anatomy looks correct. I think her hair looks totally awesome.

And heh, she has to be pretty well balanced to be able not to fall when laening on air. XD

I'm proud of this picture, despite certain mistakes, the coloring was meant to be like that by the way, to give her a ominous aura XD.Anywho, This is one of my old characters named Maji ( from an unfinished manga I was working on in HighSchool ^^;; ) she still needs to be worked on eheh ^^ but I love it none the less ^__^ oh! and by the way, that's a uh big orb of fire over her hand/lower arm hence the fact of her hand/arm being hard to see

tdweulf @ Monday, November 21st 2005, 1:11 AM

Pooky @ Monday, November 21st 2005, 6:24 PM

She is really cute, and I like her hair. I agree about the eyes... they look kinda creepy lol
I think her thights are a little too big for the rest of her body. I mean, one of them is as large as her waist! o.o
Or is it only a question of perspective? Cause if it is, nevermind. I suck at perspective. -_-;

tdweulf @ Monday, November 21st 2005, 7:56 PM
yeah it was meant for perspective, still working on that too ^^ mew o.o none the less I appreciate your commenting and critique ^^

The hair looks great and I love the detail you put into the outfit. Great job!

windblade @ Saturday, November 26th 2005, 9:23 PM
I know a neat trick to give your character an aura or to deepen the shadows... all you have to do, once your lineart is done and your coloring and shading is complete, is to flatten the image on layer 0, then select watercolors and paint the top layer in the color you want to use (black, dark blue, green, etc...). To give more emphasis on the highlights, use the eraser tool. If you want, you can do the exact opposite by painting the top layer in white (or any pale color of your choice, really) and erasing the shaded areas.

tdweulf @ Saturday, November 26th 2005, 11:31 PM
really? cool and thanks for the tip I'll be sure to use it in my next one ^^

Skittles-chan @ Sunday, December 11th 2005, 6:20 PM
The outfit is pretty cool, and I like how detailed it is. I also like that the lineart's pretty neat and maybe not smooth but not really gross sketchy. I would definately work on foreshortening, however, and use references when it comes to fire - it's way too difficult to illustrate without one. I even have trouble when I -do- use a reference x.x;
And her eyes -are- wicked.

gah x_o; I just noticed that, myuness thank you for pointing that out to me I shall work on the coloring and anatomy ^^;;

Jaibyrd @ Wednesday, November 2nd 2005, 8:57 PM
Not bad for being sick man! Her thigh is a bit strange, but you have a great command of bodies overall. Hope you feel better soon!

Arisu @ Tuesday, November 8th 2005, 5:56 PM
Ooh this is really pretty. The wings are really nice and detailed- like how the one in the back is more open than the one in the front. Love stuff like that. I like the pose a lot, and your anatomy is actually pretty good.
The only thing wrong with the thigh is that you have the wrong part of the leg on top. The calf should be in front of the thigh (if one is in front at all). I think you realized it and drew the extra line to show where the calf would be, but leg skin cant fold like that, so it throws the drawing off a bit.
But hey, great stuff!

Pooky @ Thursday, November 10th 2005, 9:32 PM

Skittles-chan @ Friday, November 11th 2005, 12:50 PM
The shape is alright, excpt for the thigh/buttocks area. Keep in mind when drawing females that it's usually -all- curves, all roundness. There's still a few areas where the colour's coming out of the lines, but it's fairly neat. I really like the design of her outfit, and the detail in her face looks really great, but some shading would seriously improve this piece.

Pooky @ Sunday, November 13th 2005, 1:21 PM
Aaah, I see you added some shading. And the thight looks really better now. But I just realized that she has pretty long legs.... she could be a model. XP

Kia @ Friday, November 18th 2005, 11:01 AM
I think this looks very nice. I like here outfit. Pretty revealing but, cute all the same. The pose is nice, I don't know much about female anatomy. (I dont know much about male anatomy either) But it seems like everyones pretty much covered that area anyway. =D Oh oha nd I like the wings too by the way they are very lovely. A very nicecolor too. ^.^

Jennifer, The Blue Narian @ Saturday, November 19th 2005, 4:43 PM
Nicey done. Good start with the anatomy. Don't worry to much about her thigh. It take alot of practice sometimes to get these things right. You'll get it next time!

And special coodos for useing tones! Don't see that often.

My only problem with it is that white around the figure. It's just a personal taste so you can ignore it. I just like it that if white is left that it's an even uniform outline.

Skittles-chan @ Friday, December 9th 2005, 7:31 PM
This looks -so- much better from when I saw it last. The color seems to be in the lines for the most part. I really hope you can see a big difference too =3
The wings look really nice btw. I like how the one kind of away from the viewer is shaped.
Awesome job retouching.

>:3 It's a fat griffin. Yes- he does look smug, he's a pigeon, why wouldn't he :D

Queen_Godzilla @ Saturday, December 3rd 2005, 9:51 PM
Damn pidgeons. XD Think they can get whatever they want by acting pudgy and cute.

I like the coloration and the fur texturing. The way you applied the color and drew the gryphon reminds me of the way my friend Mune draws, as a matter of fact.

Can't see anything to critique, though. Woohaw!

Arisu @ Saturday, December 3rd 2005, 10:53 PM
Wooo! This is so pretty. I love the coloring to death. And the expression. Looks like he knows something we don't. :3

windblade @ Sunday, December 4th 2005, 12:22 AM
Don't think I've ever seen a pigeon griffin before! I admire your lineart and how it's not getting in the way of the drawing like thick black lines would have been. Nice texture in the floofy bird head and neck!

Renmazuo @ Sunday, December 4th 2005, 4:14 AM
Love the lineart, i can never get mine to be like thisT^T

So yeah. First oekaki in at least a year. Can't say I'm too happy with it. I forgot completely about the jewelry, the wings suck, and I neglected so many places that need touching up. blaaarg.

but yeah other than that, critique is more than accepted. <3

This is really pretty!
I like the hair A LOT. It looks totally incredible. The expression on the face is really well done. I like the eyes very much.
The anatomy looks good, but I think the collar bones should be a little less V shaped.
The wings look cool too.

I think the water looks really nice. The trees and dead leaves could look more realistic tho, and they would fit better with the rest of the drawing.

Arisu @ Sunday, November 20th 2005, 9:56 PM
This is really pretty, I like the autumn colors the most. They really stand out. Really nice background. Lots of detail, like how the stream goes off into the trees. Sweet hair. :D

clockwork_orange @ Tuesday, November 22nd 2005, 1:56 PM
Lovely. Absolutely lovely. I dig the skin and the ripples in the water and the hair. Three itty bitty things bother me though: His arm looks strange. Especially the upper arm. Also the loincloth thing doesnt look quite right. The shading on it is lovely but i think it would help to make the one part look more like its under water by making it darker or more out of line with the rest of it. The trees it the bg are great, but you could still add a bit more detail.

That's all I got. Still, AWESOME pic! It's wayyyy beyond anything that I could ever do. Kudos!

Renmazuo @ Wednesday, December 7th 2005, 1:55 AM

Aaah, I love this! Everything is so finished and put together. :3 And for some reason, I absolutely love Alucard's cloak and hair. Very nicely done.

The cat on his shield looks a bit unfinished, though, compared to everything else. I think it's because the lines are so much fainter.

But the effect of the... severed arm? is very impressive. :3

Ruka-poo @ Saturday, February 12th 2005, 2:19 PM
hwoa...I love the textures and stuff. I've never played the game before but my cousin keeps telling me how good it is xD Maybe I should look it up. I love the Venus Weed and Alucard's cloak xD <33 keep it up

Jennifer @ Saturday, February 12th 2005, 3:19 PM
This is so very cool. I love the look of the Venus Weed. The rose-like blossom she is popping out of is so very beautiful. I keep imagining her twisting out of the ground and emerging from her petally coccoon.
Alucard is cool-looking. His expression is almost like that of pity or remorse for the Venus Weed.

catboi incubus mishi @ Saturday, February 12th 2005, 4:24 PM
First of all, I must say that Alucard is just GORGEOUS. Mm. I love his expression and his design, he's a pretty pretty .. vampire, right? Or just a bishounen? X3 I like the Venus Plant, she's so pretty and I like the flower she's popping out of. The severed arm is amazing, I love the splattering of greenish blood. As a whole, this is very very impressive, as your work always is, QG! :D

Beautiful shading, fantastic background... really, this whole thing is just amazing. All the little tinsy weensy details like the studs on the shield and the twist in the vine stalk and the clasp for the chain, the tie for the cravat, all of it. Fantastic, fantastic work here.

Segzhan @ Saturday, December 3rd 2005, 6:29 PM
I felt like thousands of tiny little hooks suddently grabbed by essence and pulled vigourously. Beyond the displeasing feeling, I was raging.

A stupid wizard was summoning me.

This time, I decided to appear as a red skinned demoness. When the wizard is a male, it never fails to intimidate.

As the world around me slowly materializes, I get the feeling to be in an old sepia photograph. Everything around me is in tones of brown. Even the wizard himself (a young teenaged boy) has brown hair, brown eyes, brown clothes and tan skin. He does not seem to be affected by the physical appearance I chose. Disapointed, I notice he is holding a jar, probably hand made in clay.

"Are you the Djinn Cosom?" He asks, sadly not scared.

"Yup, that would be me." I pointed at the jar. "I sure hope you do not plan to try to trap me inside that, boy."

Nice demon! I really like the upper body especially the spine that sticks out. I think I put curly horns in my picture because I saw the curly horns in your picture and they kinda stuck in my head. Mmhmm. :d

windblade @ Sunday, December 4th 2005, 12:28 AM
This looks cool, but... only one small detail, promise me you won't bite my head off (I only have one of it, and happen to like it at the time).

I'm not sure I like the demoness's hand hiding the human sumonner's face like this. Maybe it's on purpose, so we won't recognize the boy, but I think it would have been more interesting to put him a little bit to the right so we can see his expression.

Another suggestion would be to try using blue for the highlights/shading, since the sumonning ring is glowy blue light. Appart from that, this is a nice pic. Great anatomy on the demoness's back! The shading makes her look really round and... uh... I dunno, yummy?

Segzhan @ Sunday, December 4th 2005, 12:54 AM
Thanks for the critics, Windblade! :)

The point of that pic -was- to hide the faces. I tend to put too much importance into them. :)

And I tried doing the blue highlights. But it looked like crap. I had been working on that pic for three hours already. So I gave up. XD

Renmazuo @ Sunday, December 4th 2005, 4:11 AM
The demoness' body is really well drawn, and both the lines and colours kinda decieve me, because i almost see her floatingO_O

I do agree that the hand on the boy's face looks a bit weird though, maybe it's the perspective but it looks almost as if she was pushing him...

Other than that, this is a great illustration, and the story is interesting:3

Pooky @ Sunday, December 4th 2005, 1:15 PM
The deamoness looks beautiful. The anatomy is really nice. The blue summoning ring looks pretty cool. I agree that it would look good with blue highlights.

Yes, even the hat. I made the Argpoodle hat, and he will be wearing it.
And I'll be sure to link pictures when we return.

And 'Rena is wearing her hat of disguise, making her appear as a white elf, which is easier on me since I couldn't find decent grease paint to be a drow at the faire. Yay for disguise!

The boy's hat is really cute, with the lil dangley thing and weird shape and all, and I like the lil designs on his pants =3 Rena's outfit is nice too, sort of gypsy-esque without the colour. A few things stick out as awkard to me. Rena's hand the one with the bracelet) seems just a little shapeless. Also, her arm and the gesture seem a little awkward, especially for them to be dancing. Maybe if he were holding onto her finger or something like that? Anyway, her head also seems disproportionately large. Other than that, everything's great. The details (especially on the boy's hat =3) are great, and I like the shading. The stars are really pretty too =3
