Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

I'm not sure I like the background, but oh well.

Holy monkies, windy. =o

tori_yuugi @ Thursday, April 6th 2006, 8:43 PM
i cant waitto see the finish!
this is amazing! i cant find the words the way the butterflies seem to just...materialize and i love the coloring of the formost butterfly!
the butterflies coming from her heeead almost look like water splashing off the head...realy cool effect

mark @ Saturday, April 8th 2006, 12:29 PM
It's like her brain exploded into butterflies XD

Nice use of colour especially on the butterfly on the right. *nods nods*

windblade @ Saturday, April 8th 2006, 6:47 PM
My only problem is that I have no idea what background I should use (would prefer something that doesn't distract from all the sparkles)

Mouse @ Saturday, April 8th 2006, 7:32 PM
The smooth transition, the coloring... this is good. I keep on trying to trace all the butterflies individually with my eyes. You'd be good with those "find those random objects in the picture" puzzles.

Arisu @ Saturday, April 8th 2006, 9:44 PM
Oh my. Really nice concept here! I like the way you paid attention to ALL the little details even though your canvas is so big. That's something I will never be able to do. *admiration for your skill and patience* I love the way the butterflies shine.

olsie @ Monday, April 10th 2006, 6:31 AM
Wow, thats great Windy.
I Think Greens, or Yellows would make a good background...even if it did take eons, opposite color butterflies in the background would be fitting, IMO.

Traditions_Chains @ Monday, April 10th 2006, 2:46 PM
dear sweet holy monkies of doom... This is beyond beautiful! How did you make it look so.. glittery? So soft and well blended.. Its wonderful! Oh the BG on DA is pretty nifty too ^.~

mazilwolf @ Thursday, April 13th 2006, 6:04 AM
das amazing... O.O.......

maybe for a background, use warm colours in pastel to contrast it, like a gradient or somthing.

Miraiangel @ Saturday, April 15th 2006, 1:52 PM
I love the idea with this pic it looks so originall(ok, my bad english shows here), the butterflys looks so shiny and beautiful! And the colouring ont the sking looks realistic! ^^

I'm not too familiar with the character either, but I love how this came out. I love her outfit, and her stomach. Her hair is pretty, and I love her wings. This is gorgeous. :D

Sumi @ Thursday, April 6th 2006, 5:40 PM
Ah, what a pretty monochrome! <3 I especially love the shading your did on her collar, and I'm in love with her little wings. x3 My only crit is that she has no hands. They're a challenge, but practice makes perfect. ;)

tori_yuugi @ Thursday, April 6th 2006, 8:44 PM
yah... i kinda ran out of time had to go somewhere or i would have finished it it was gonna be cool b/c her bent arm had a guitar in it

Arisu @ Saturday, April 8th 2006, 9:48 PM
The character is absolutely beautiful. It looks like you put a ton of time and attention into every part of her. So much detailing! And I hate to crit, but the scribbly background is kinda taking away from the image. It's the only part with color so it immediately draws the attention away from your nice art.

To mee, she looks like a sea witch now. One I would nooot want to run into. Hahaha. Or.. swim.. into. I really love her nose,a nd her eyes. The highlighting kind of confuses me. It looks all over the place, but I could be wrong. Im not a genius on highlight or shading, so.. ^^;

Anyway, welcome to Drow.

Sumi @ Thursday, April 6th 2006, 5:42 PM
The lighting makes it seem like she's underwater. =3 I really like the shading and lighting around her eyes. It really gives the sense of shape.

tori_yuugi @ Thursday, April 6th 2006, 8:45 PM
i tried to get the highlights to look like they are kinda coming from her body not reflecting off of her body...?

I like the greens, looks very much like she's glazed in algae ^ ^
(lol that doesn`t make sense)

Arisu @ Saturday, April 8th 2006, 9:51 PM
Fwoah awesome coloring. The face is really eye catching. I love the way you blended streaks of green into the background... or, looks more like you blended the blue over the green. Really nice effect!

Mouse @ Thursday, March 23rd 2006, 6:46 AM
The front girl came out well, especially the coloring. Looking over it, for some reason I'm attached to the suble coloring of the neck, though the hairbuns were probably what got my attention first.

Sumi @ Thursday, March 23rd 2006, 7:14 PM

I love the softness of this piece. It's very cheerful and light! Her smile and face are so realistic, nicejob!

And, uh, you speak Thai?

Mouse @ Tuesday, March 21st 2006, 4:44 PM
That floaty glowy thing's neat, and has me curious to how a staring contest with it woud go. The person's expression seems like a mix of energetic contentness, if that makes sense. Coloring's subtle and pretty consistent with the lineart. I like!

Sumi @ Tuesday, March 21st 2006, 10:50 PM

Okay. My computer's motherboarad fried due to USB malfunction and a nasty spark =(
But anyway, this is a Jagonrundi, a vermin-type native to a different planet, and a Meercoon, a raccoon-meerkat hybrid that was genetically created to be the new ferret (in this short story, ferrets and other species were wiped out by a combination of war and disease). Space travellers brought Meercoons with them to this new planet and the Jagonrundi stowed away like winged tarantulas on freight ships.
It was a fun story, I should redo it now that I'm not a little kid =P

I decided I wanted to try the alien thingy, so I sat around during math, thinking up an alien..thingy. Har. Came up with this. Don't know how impressive it is, but it was fun all the same. I don't normally get so creative. I usually stay in the human world. Haha. So it was fun. My friend told me to name it Aegoric, so I did. Mwah. I'm still trying to figure it out. I know it injects a poison into the body of it's prey and then feeds off it's insides with it's long tongue. It uses it's claws to rip at it's prey too. The females and males are attached to one snake like body. Males have the spikes, females don't. Ok crap. I stink at this alien stuff. *sobs*

Not done, not at a stopping point either. Ah well, this will probably be off the front page 'fore I get a chance to work on it some more. I was planning to add some more details and sparkle. This was gonna be my sparkle picture.

Florida vacation is going to happen in a couple'a days. I'm happy like a little kid!

Yeah vacation.
Miss you guys and your nice comments! :) :)

This is probably one of the best oekaki's I have ever seen. If this was on an oekaki I was admin at, it'd be archived. Because this is just one of those things I think should be saved and treasured. :3 It is very lovely in every aspect. The coloring, the flow of ht ehair, the anatomy and profile. Most of all, I love the extreme, glittery highlights on her. Just to perfect. This is beautiful. Lovely background too. ^_^; *Drools*

windblade @ Monday, March 13th 2006, 12:09 PM
Isn't that the game where you have to climb on huge rocky monster and stab them in the weak point?

I like that you added the energy bar thing, it gives a good videogamy-feeling. And awesome falling pose, very dynamic!

Queen_Godzilla @ Monday, March 13th 2006, 2:01 PM
Ahahaha, frustration. I can sympathize! I've had times where I've been playing something and after trying to do something in the game, like, ELEVENTY MILLION TIMES it's like... 'I'm gonna go cry and sit in a corner now.'

How is Shadow of the Colossus, by the by?

*COUGH* Er, okay... I love the painterly feel of this. I also luuuuuurv the muted color palette and how fluid the fall is. Are those some aquaducts in the background there? Eh, the whole picture just flows right, you know.

I love it. =o

Annie Felis @ Monday, March 13th 2006, 6:33 PM
Man, I know the feeling. If you replace a certain speed-boost-grapple-chain-and-jump area in Norfair in Super Metroid with the Secret Garden, that's totally me, "Maybe I don't need that missile pack that much"

Awesome picture, and I feel your frustration.

Sumi @ Monday, March 13th 2006, 9:10 PM
Yeah, it is the stabby-you-die-big-rock-monster game. And it\'s awesome. Go buy it. Now.
(And those things in the background are the bridge to get into the front of the temple.)

Harlequin @ Friday, March 17th 2006, 4:39 AM
Sumi...I love you. That game...oooh I love that game. I made it to that stupid garden, but just as I did the power went out. And I lost the extra weapon...things I had unlocked, two really good time trials...and I never got to see the garden. I was so pissed about it I never bothered to try again. lol That's what I get for playing when there was a big storm outside...even so.

Awesome piece though, the bridge in the background...and the shadow of the castle...and and...yeah I love you Sumi. lol

Try drawing one of the colossi sometime. lol

Kia @ Saturday, March 18th 2006, 1:31 AM

Also about my last drawing, I got it finished but couldnt upload it. IF sumi or kern could please help me i got a screen cap saved of it. thanks.

Ok about this dude... he has no eyes, no ears but is a deadly hunter! running with his powerful legs he can run fast, ram his head into his pray and then slice them open with his powerful back foot claw. These creatures are hunters, meaning they want there pray alive. Even the young feed on each other! one female can have a litter of 20 at a time, but sadly only one survives each litter since the young hunt and eat each other. This way only the strongest survive.
If the mother is even hungery, she will eat her own young. They are anti social creatures who live alone. Its a deadly fight for even mating, if not done right they can end up killing each other.

The planet is so hot it is nothing but a waste land. The ground is made of a fungus which is a pure white in color looking like snow.

I like the amount of detail you did in the folds here. It gives that thing a lot of detail and surface.

Annie Felis @ Monday, March 13th 2006, 7:52 PM
That's a great combination of cel shading and airbrushing. I like how you did little scribbles on the ice to make it look scored, and the guy's coloration. Purple + green mouth for the win.

Your really need to comment on some images. I can understand your new but it is a rule here.

Also you should try and spend more then 30 min. on a image. This seems rushed and not finished. The background is plain and there is not any shading at all.

You have a style, the face and eyes look great along with the hair. But with a little detail here and there this could be a great image.

AngelLover89 @ Wednesday, March 8th 2006, 11:29 PM
well should i say its only my SECOND freakin oekaki!??!?!

AngelLover89 @ Wednesday, March 8th 2006, 11:32 PM
and does that mean that someone who can do good in a short time isn't accepted? I know a lot of people who don't spend a lot of time on something and still have it turn out great.

Annie Felis @ Wednesday, March 8th 2006, 11:58 PM
Werll in short: yes. If you spend less than 30 minutes on a picture, it's like you don't care to put enough effort into it.

Also, this board is in fact fantasy only. Maybe this guy is some kind of mage or whatnot, but to me he looks like an ordinary guy.

Kern @ Thursday, March 9th 2006, 12:22 AM
Angellover, calm down, getting angry will only make things worse. You should have read the rules before signing up, you cannot protest when breaking them.
There is a minimum time requirement to force the artists to spend time and attention to their artwork. Instead of making several quick ones in a row. It is indeed a fantasy only board.

freakymary @ Thursday, March 9th 2006, 10:32 AM

Suggestion for a theme week: Non-humanoid aliens!

This lil guy here (who\'s about ten feet tall) is a Cursean (The old name of Curriaan came from someone who seemed to like them, but I was asked to change it), a psychic insectoid inhabitant of the planet Xales 3, from the ixalee system. Extremely intelligent, these creatures are also tougher than they look, and they need to be! Xales 3 has a lot of seismic and volcanic activity, and also gets pelted by the occasionnal meteor shower a few times a year. Oh, and it rains chlorhydric acid, too.

The yellow dots on his back are bioluminescent, and are mainly used to convey emotions. He is rather young, as can be told by the paler color of his exoskeletton. Older individuals are darker shades of blue, purple and teal. Females can be told appart from male by the size of the abdomen. Females with big \"butts\" are the most sought after, because this means they are more fertile.
