Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

Well as you can see it's faaaar from complete. But it's been more than a year since my last drawing, and I figured it was time for an update! I dunno when I'll get around to finishing this, maybe never. But it was too much time and effort to just abandon at this point, so I figured I'd send in what I had.

This is looking really nice so far. Please finish.

KHatch @ Wednesday, May 10th 2006, 2:40 PM
Look, this is unfair. You need to finish the arm so that I can steal the lineart and colour it! I LOVE the outfit...she looks like my tiefling...

Awesome on the details there, great lineart. Waiting to see the finished piece XDx

Very nice start. Nice soft lines too and good praportion and anatomy. I really do hope you finish it, or at least finish the arm. It would be a fun image to color.

dorothyblueeyes @ Thursday, October 5th 2006, 6:52 AM
Yes, excellent line art,and I love that tiny dragon too. I was surprised to see this is a female artist, cause this is the image of sci-fi or fantasy women, that guys like; nipples standing out, very long tiny waist, and a big rear. Not to mention the big eyes. Maybe this is just a fantasy version of the female.Who knows?Very good drawing, though.

OK, I give. I can't make it look like I want it to, so oh well. Hey everyone, remember me? It's been what, six months since I drew something? Maybe longer... hmm... Anyways, this is Nelly (short for Ne'loriana) the cleric sorceress from my current DnD game. She's sweet natured, a little shy, warm hearted, caring.... and the most evil character I've ever played <{^ ^}>. Gotta watch those sweet ones, eh?

mazilwolf @ Tuesday, October 11th 2005, 2:45 PM
hey! woot, i rember u!!! hmmmm.... did wonder where u went actaully, but ur back now, so ill forigive you (lol, just kidding about that last bit 0.-) i cant really see much about this picture that isnt good. coz that hand is damn good. (dies X_x) although i think that the part of the torso just below the arm is a little wide... but i could be wrong. i like the nifty pattern down the side a lot too. all in all, i think this is a neat, nice, and generally good picture! great to see you again! ^^

Jennifer, The Blue Narian @ Saturday, October 15th 2005, 5:08 AM
Not quiet as detailed as some of your other pictures but still nicely done. The eyes are wonderful and those sleaves are an interesting choice in costume design.

Jaibyrd @ Tuesday, October 18th 2005, 7:25 PM
It's better than I can do, that's for sure! =~.^= Anyway, love the color and the shading. The breasts look a tad off, but then again it could be the way she's leaning. Overall I really like it, keep up the great work!

Pooky @ Saturday, October 29th 2005, 7:28 PM
It looks totally awesome. That hand is unbelievablely perfect! o-o
Her face and hair are really beatiful too.
I like her clothes. Corsets look so pretty. And the cloak is cool too; I like how it goes up her neck, it adds an elegant touch to it.
I agree with maziwolf about the torso, right uner the arm - it looks a little wide. It's not dramatic tho.
And her right boob look a little strange - as if it was large, but flat. o.O It may just an impression I have tho. >>

Happy V-Day, everyone! Here's to every person who's going to spend the day of lovey-dovey cuddling sickness locked in their rooms with computers, video games, and single serving pizzas. Cheers!

This is Melia, she's a Djernak which is a creature of my own devising. Basically they're low elves as upposed to high elves, they are shorter and stockier than high elves, with longer ears (ususally with fur although in some circles it is expected for that to be removed) and long tails tipped with fur like a lion's. The fuzzy thing beside her is Simalea, her familiar. All Djernak are born with a nickling (that creature's kind) familiar that they live with until death. They resemble a fox, but not as long or as lanky, they have longer fur, larger eyes, a shorter snout, smaller paws, and two antannae that glow according to mood and lighting. Also they have a pair of small and cute (but funcional) pink wings on their backs.

Melia was taken from her home as a smaller child and brought as a slave to one of the elfin cities, where a rich and somewhat perverted old elf bought her and took her to his private castle to be raised in his harem. She is the favorite, and all her needs are taken care of and so she has no reason to run away. She still misses her brother on occasion, though, as in his picture.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Tigerhawk @ Monday, February 14th 2005, 4:15 AM
I really like the hand ....thingy.Forgot what they're called. the outfit is really nice as well as well as the coloring. But I do believe the head is shifted too much to the left. Doesn't look right in my sight. Detail is very well done.

Kaiera @ Monday, February 14th 2005, 10:52 PM
I like the story that goes along with the piece....very creative. In the piece itself, I love the highlighting, particularly the reflection from the moon. Nicely done

catboi incubus mishi @ Tuesday, February 15th 2005, 1:10 AM
I really like the story behind the image and her pretty harem outfit. I love how you did the sheer material with watercolors, it looks very pretty. This image looks almost like an illustration out of a story, like 1001 Arabian Nights. :]

KHatch @ Tuesday, February 15th 2005, 5:48 AM
The idea and design is awesome. I love the shading on her tummy and hair.
The outfit is lovely and the little creature is so cute! *steals*

Prismatic @ Thursday, February 17th 2005, 9:11 PM
Oh so pretty! And what a neat idea for a sub-race. It seems you put a lot of time into developing it.
The anatomy on this is very well done. Am particularly fond of her hand and the proportions of her face. All the details in her jewelery and clothing is wonderful! It's such a cute outfit, and as has been stated before I like how you used watercolor for the sheerness of her clothing.
Her lil friend thingy is so cute. It's eye is wonderful~ I wish I could see its wings. I love pink wings. -drool- It looks like it's trying to comfort her as she's thinking of her brother.
The softness of the background is really pretty. I like the soft light of the moon, and the buildings in the far off distance~

Amary-chan @ Thursday, February 24th 2005, 8:33 AM
very nicely done, the texture on the cat's fur is very nice, and its good that you used color instead of black for shadows, very smart!

Crest @ Friday, February 25th 2005, 6:55 PM
The outfit is really nicely drawn and designed. I like the necklace she is wearing and the shine on it and the earrings. And the hand jewelry is cool looking as well. I like the little critter...it's cute. XD And nice pointy ears on the lady. :D

Queen_Godzilla @ Saturday, March 5th 2005, 1:46 AM
Well, as long as she's happy with her job I'm good!

First of all -- that costume really caught my eye. Eeeeeexcellent. I like the dangly beads and the heart design around the rim of the lingerie. A very detailed costume, for a very rich girl X3.

And good job with the implied city in the background. Just enough detail to specify what it is, but not enough to make it stand out overly much.

Nice lighting too. I don't know if it's the most effective as it is or not. Ah, well.

Her familiar is pretty unremarkable, though. Looks like a brown cat. Woo.

Right, well I\'ll get back to this probably tomorrow. It\'s gaming night, time to take off... but I didn\'t want to lose what I had. This will eventually be the Dark Goddess Loriana from my world, I haven\'t yet decided if she\'s wearing a mask or if she\'s just adjusted her face to be metallic <{^.^}>. Any comments or helpful tips would be appreciated now while I still have room to change things!

Yay! Done! Took a rather different turn than I had expected... but I did her hair and then the stars just begged to be put in, and it kind of went from there. So yah, any comments helpful. Loriana, Goddess of Darkness and Mother of Night.

Starisan @ Monday, February 7th 2005, 3:17 PM
Great on the coloring, I could believe that it is her real face...If you think of it in terms of dawn being young and new, rebirth and night being the final stage of a day. I like the stars in her hair, my only comment would be that the day looks a little too bright to be heading into evening.

Karasu @ Tuesday, February 8th 2005, 12:41 AM
wow! How creative! I really love this, a lot! Since i live in new mexico, I should say that this is very southwestern themed. : ) you did a good job here on the shadng, but I think the eyes could have used a little more depth....the sunset is just gorgeous though! and I love the stars in the hair : )

Cai @ Tuesday, February 8th 2005, 11:11 PM
The metallic look of the mask/face is very very nice, though the shift from blue to gray to blue (forehead/upper face to lower face to chin) is a bit awkward. The night sky in her hair looks beautiful, though.

Her eyes also seem a bit unfocused for some reason. But overall, I'm impressed - I couldn't do something with watercolors like this. ^.^

Totenmaske @ Friday, February 11th 2005, 5:20 AM
Just to let you know darkrose, I?ve archived this image last night simply because I was really impressed with the overall look of this ? sorry about not getting to commenting in a timely fashion though. That being said I must say the reason I really like this image, is the fact that she reminds me of the ?Robot? in Fritz Lang?s Metropolis. There was a comment I thought, that said something about the way the transition of the faces blue seemed a little off ? but I don?t see it now for some reason, but I have to agree that there seems to be that kind of effect ? plus the eye seems a little out of proportion on the ?dawn/sunset? side of the canvas which gives it a rather wonky look mainly due to that eye. But still that does not mean that this image is anything other than exceptional.

That being said, I really like the overall look of the skyline, especially the nice cloud work is rather realistic with the way you have eased the overall look? not concentrating on fluffy clouds you seem to go with the more subtle indication of wispy work, which in my eye seems more realistic. The little sunlight rays are nice, as well. Frankly the image itself is impressive in this area more than anything else.

I also like the fact of the stars in her hair, truly come across as the coming of night. Everything seems to work wonderfully, except for the wonky aspect the eyes bring to the table not to mention that the more I look at it, the red lips seem to be a little too much colour for the scene ? taking away somewhat of the feel overall on canvas. But this I personally think is just my preference ? if you did the lips and eyes as you did the face (with that skin effect) I think the actual sense of transposing the two elements of night and day could have been brought further into the end product. But overall this is a fantastic image darkrose, hope to see more of the same attention to detail of the skyline as well as the face in general in your future images!

Prismatic @ Friday, February 11th 2005, 9:16 PM
This is a really beautiful piece of art. I'm loving it. Your use of color is so marvelous.
I really like the way it seems she's rolling in the night as the sun sets. Sort of reminds me of when Apollo rides his chariot to make the sun rise~ The stars in her hair are really pretty. She really does seem to be partially made up of the night sky.
The highlights and shading in her face are so good. There's so much depth there, she really does seem to be three dimensional. The softness of teh background is wonderful as well! I particualry like the rays of light coming from the sun.~~

Jennifer @ Sunday, January 30th 2005, 11:58 AM
This picture is so sweet and touching. I really like this, it's romantic. Your characters are very good-looking and have a sense of realism. The hero has such a tender expression. It's as if he's thinking that everything will be alright as long as she is with him. Your heroine has a more serious expression, like she is trying to figure out what happened and what they will do next. After seeing this picture, I would like to see more of their story. Great work.

catboi incubus mishi @ Sunday, January 30th 2005, 4:25 PM
What a sweet couple. (: I love their expressions, the woman with a sad, pondering one.. I almost feel as though they're sitting before a fire, just the way that they're snuggling. I love the man's look, gazing at her with love, probably, and wonder at what will happen to them. The sexy, open shirt can't help but make me think of romance novels. XD;; Wonderful image! :D

Queen_Godzilla @ Saturday, March 5th 2005, 12:19 AM
A lot better, yes. Definitely. It has a good composition, good coloration, proportions, etc.

If I tilt my head the direction each of their heads is facing, I can see little facial details that have gone out of line. Mostly it's just one eye on each of them. No big deal. And the rest of their anatomies are perfect as far as I cna see.

Other than that -- I don't see much shadows in here. I know one source is blue light and it's from behind them, and I know one source is yellow/bone nad coming from the right, but... I think sometimes you're using blue shadows and that throws me off as to whether it's a highlight or shadow. Tisk, tisk.

darkrose @ Monday, January 24th 2005, 8:35 PM
Alright, that was a lot of work for not much, I know. Her face is too fat, and it's bugging me, and he looks like a little kid. I think his eyes are too low, and her nose is too big, and the lace needed to be finer on her glove so I lost all the pretty details I'd put on there and sacrificed it to the scribble gods. Ah, well... I still love the background, and the dress design, and the little glowy bits underneath the gems that make them look like they're not just pasted onto the dress like a Matell mass-marketed thing. Yes, well, um... this is JT and Cora, the lesbian, that loves him, a guy. No, it doesn't make any sense. From a gaming session... enjoy.

Shakaku @ Monday, January 24th 2005, 8:52 PM
Defiantley unique. All the things you critiqued yourself on are correct. Might I suggest making the guy look slightly bigger than her? It might help. Over all though the concept and the color use is wonderful.

Ashi @ Monday, January 24th 2005, 9:32 PM
You're right, DR. The background is just awesome. It even has a motion type quality that makes the couple centered and shows the flurry of activity all around them. Her dress is just awesome and the shine on the gems is excellent.

Crest @ Monday, January 24th 2005, 11:43 PM
I like their semi-matching outfits and the gems that stand out. The background is pretty wicked looking...especially since I can't draw them. XD The shape of the girl's hair is pretty cool looking, too. Neat design of hte drawing.

Tigerhawk @ Tuesday, January 25th 2005, 5:18 AM
What baffels me the most is...why does everyone have to look so danged perfect? I swear everyone thinks that eveyone needs to look like Barbie or Ken..@_# they're fine. i like them that way. Hey have you ever seen those people with that lumpish looking thing on their nose? Or some African-Americans (some prefered being called Black) have skulls that stick out a bit. It gives them character. Who said we all had to be "perfect"? Look at Gollom, everone I know seems to think he's deathly cute. Everything on us gives us character.

Not all males are big. I know some high school guys that are only 4' 5" if not shorter. Many males I've seen are sninny, those "estro flackas" (bad spanish) The only thing that makes him look weirdish looking, is his right (his right leg not the right side) leg. It comes to close to his left leg and doesn't look like it'll give him support/balance. It could also be his face is just a tad to small.

The Hair is Beautiful! I love your hair. How you draw it is exquisit, as well as your jewels. Yes the lace is a bit to...lacy, but I didn't notice till you pointed that out. The background is good, really good. If you'd blur it it might have given it more motion to the picture.

I love you (not in that "way") so please don't get "GYAH I'M GOIN TO KILL YOU AND HUNT YOU DOWN!!"

KHatch @ Tuesday, January 25th 2005, 5:48 AM
The colouring on her dress is just wonderful! I love the hair too, so shiny!
I do see some colour bleeding around the skin though. That's my only beef.
Wonderful background that adds but not detracts.

Well, the colorign is pretty good, aside from the slight leaks. The hair especially is well done. Anatomy is good, And nice color choices ^^
But! The faces are odd. her face is bigger than his, and the nose looks lopsided, which makes the rest look lopsided. HIS face, just needs the mouth moved a bit, and it would be cool ^^

Nice background :)

Queen_Godzilla @ Friday, March 4th 2005, 10:29 PM
Cora looks like an Amazon woman compared to JT.

It's because she's bigger, body wise and face wise. It's probably just an accident on your part, really. Plus the fact that they're the exact same height. In real life, they're probably of different heights. It's always something to consider when you're doing a composition.

I do agree about his face. It IS probably too round, like you said (I think.) Guys have a more square jaw (usually) and are more... angular. Haha, maybe she likes him so much because he looks like such a girl. Bad joke. I know. XD;;

I think maybe her torso is a TISH too big for her body. Maybe. The dress probably threw you off.

Speaking of the dress -- definitely nice clothing design. For outfits that dark, I would have thought they'd have had darker shadows on them, though.

And it's nice that you merely IMPLIED the background instead of really going all out.

GRAAAAAR!!! OK, well the real purpose of this drawing was to express my intense frustration at NOT BEING ABLE TO DRAW. I have no tablet, I don't plan on owning one, everything digital I do is with a mouse. So I'm home for the holidays, away from my own computer and using my parents', and their mouse is RIDICULOUS. Even when you change the mousepad the dang thing sticks, skips, lags, cuts out, and any number of other nasty little things that make oekaki damn near impossible to do. And thus I decided to play with the imprecise art of watercolors, because I can make a whole lot of little clicks and swipes to try and do a picture without having any lineart or details (believe me, I tried to do both but to no avail).

*sigh* Ah, well. This didn't turn out half as bad as I'd expected it to, although I'm still not all that fond of it. I couldn't get the color smooth enough for my tastes, and the mouse kept skipping whenever I'd try to do little things like the nose or the eyes. Thus, the timer is actually acurate on this one, I have no idea what it is but it's true whatever it is. *Ahem*, this is a pixie from a new story I'm writing. Sort of based off the picts of the ancient British Isles, they are blue and have wierd hair (rather the texture of spaghetti, most keep it in cornrows or other such devices), large noses, small pointed ears, and they stand between two and three feet tall. They don't wear many clothes, living in a very tribal shamanistic kind of setting. Big deals for them are wearing plants around their ankles and wrists (and in their hair), large earrings (gold preferrable, because it's shiny and they LOOOOVE it), and generally decking themselves out in as much nifty stuff as possible (pearls, beads, shells, gold stuff), oh, and ceremonial tatoos for every occasion, name, social thingus and whatnot. This one is rather young, which is why she has only one large string of pearls and one large gold earring, with just the naming tatoo upon her forhead and her clan tatoo under her eyes.

Wow that was a long intro... comments welcome, although take this with a grain of salt because I was having a great deal of trouble. Thanks for your time!

catboi incubus mishi @ Thursday, January 13th 2005, 2:39 PM
Hey, darkrose! Glad to see you back! x) You did this with a touchpad? Hot damn, girl. xD I'm not going to go too hard on this, merely because I know it was pretty hard enough to draw in the first place!I think, if I had to find some 'problem' with this image, I would say her forehead - it juts out a lot and sort of bothers me. ^_^; But aside from that, this image is nothing short of beautiful! I love the shading, it's so tangible and her earring looks real. Great job! :D

Kaede @ Thursday, January 13th 2005, 8:23 PM
Wow, I personally thing your really really good with watercolors. I really like thespixie things, this one is very beautiful. Her eyes are nice to look at, and her lips are just beautiful. Even though you were stuck with a mouse that that, this turned out really really good. Your really good at realism. =0

celestial crou @ Friday, January 14th 2005, 4:38 AM
Dude i SO know what thats like. And i know how you can 'fix' that mouse prob. If by some crule twist of fate you and that mouse should cross paths again. LOL At least it sounds like the prob i had with my mouse. You have to take the ball out and then look inside the mouse. There will be these little roller things that make the mouse move. up down and the right left. If you find what look like well....a black rubber band with puffy stuff around it thats your prob. Thats all dead skin and C_ _ _ thats been flatened into a thin strip. So you have to remove those thingies and the mouse will work good as new! If not that....lo siento cause i cant help you. NOw im no comp wiz but thats what works.

Now for the piccy. This is a beutiful mix of colors. The BG is mellow and soft with complementary colored fairies? And the vine boarder....Thats quite elabrate for having absolutly no control over the mouse. The skin is shaded and highlighted to add depth which pulls the figure out. The BG and the FG work fantastic together. And the hair. We dont see those very often. Kudos to you!

darkrose @ Friday, January 14th 2005, 5:20 AM
Thanks Crou, although guess what? It's a lazer mouse! No ball to remove... it's just a crappy mouse. Ah, well... thanks for the help, though.

PS: Mishi, this better? I straightened out her forhead a little more, thanks for that. I missed it when eyeballing her before (but that's what these boards are for, right?) and while I was at it I decided to give her lips more definition and give her a nose stud. Just for fun <{^.^}>

Starisan @ Saturday, January 15th 2005, 4:35 AM
Hi! I like her eyes they are very realistic. The nose looks pretty well done too, maybe just a little wide at the top...great job with the jewelry, it looks very metallic. I like the effect of the blurred background, it makes it more photgraph like, to focus on the frontal image. The corn rows are a very unique and good looking idea. The nose stud seems to fit in with her character, I like that attention to detail. The symbols are nicely put as well, the are subtle but get their point a cross. I really like the way the neck turned out. Nice One!

Queen_Godzilla @ Friday, February 18th 2005, 12:20 AM
Gnome people. Like the Nac MacFeegles in the Terry Pratchett books, eh?

For something that was made with a mouse (and a glitchy one at that) this is freakin' incredible. Really. I feel that the painting style accurately represented the elements in the picture in terms of texture and lighting. She isn't flat, but rather 3-D. Aah, and so many little details like the nose ring and the eyelashes! Aya!
