Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

This is a lot like my selenthian picture... x( Honestly, I'm not one for furries at all, with the exception of lion ones and this one. A few years ago my friend made me play Furcadia for a grueling 2 hours. My character was a white dog, I think her name was Hisui or something.
I always thought she looked really elegant so... redid her in warrior's armor? =D

Pooky @ Wednesday, October 11th 2006, 8:46 PM
Woah, it looks so nice. ^^ And she's all fluffy!

dorothyblueeyes @ Saturday, October 14th 2006, 5:06 AM
Absolutely beautiful;yes,such real fur,and real dog,and real picture.Great,Sumi!!

Thalar @ Friday, October 27th 2006, 6:06 AM
I love this! I have a weak spot for white wolves (or wolf-like dogs) in any shape and form. This is beautifully done, more resembling a painting than digital art. She looks elegant and deadly at once :)

i love the head

I was... trying something. <_<; I dunno if it worked or not, but it sure doesn't look like what I had in mind.

DinKelion @ Tuesday, October 3rd 2006, 7:40 PM
People tend to make vampire fangs look too large and kinda goofy in most pictures (Even in flims, I might add) But this one looks pretty sweet! Those fangs have a frail kris like look to them. Or maybe it is the eyes and soft nose that is making me think otherwise O.o;. Beautiful picture anyways, the color scheme is absolutally eerie! (in a positive sence!)

dorothyblueeyes @ Thursday, October 5th 2006, 5:07 AM
Wow, I love the subtley. (??spelling)It so subtle.Very very beautiful, and rich, too.And she looks very forbiding, too. great.

dorothyblueeyes @ Friday, October 6th 2006, 3:19 AM
Sumi, I just looked at this picture again, and I have to say, you really have subtle tones, and gradations, that I can not even come near.I know I am over-done,and obvious, and most of us even here are not too subtle. I started to look at the tones in the picture, and that more is concealed, than revealed, and it is a great lesson to me. The sense of "hiddenness"and "danger" that the darkness gives,is what makes the whole picture work. wow. I'm just curious , who's fine art do you admire?Do you like to study lighting of all kinds, in painting?Do you like to look at a lot of very old oil painting, classics, of all kinds, that are masters with lighting? I can make out the background of shaded mountains, and the way they blend into the front picture, but I happen to know that something like this is not that easy to do. It may look easy, but it's much harder to under-do a picture, and go for such dramatic darkness, and really convey a feeling of danger with it. "Mysteriousness." You can just barely make out the fangs, just barely. She is mostly hidden, so you can not really know who or what she is.

Hmm..reminds me of a really good vampire or horror movie, where the vampire is lurking in the dark shadows, and the cinematographer wants to just "hint"that she is there, and ":hints"that is is so dangerous, and shows just enough of her, to show that she is also probably beautiful.

Is this a departure for you? I just really love it. Sorry for oggling it,and bugging you,but this is really something I would expect, in some ways, to find in a museum gallery,or painting gallery. Humph!! You are really onto something. Have you heard the expression "tone poem"? Almost like an illustration for an Anne Rice novel. Ok, I'll stop over-commenting, but I just wanted you to know, you are really really good, and very talented. I do not say that to just anyone. "Mood" and "delicacy" and "sensitivity" is not a very wide-spread characteristic even in the art world.

Having seen a lot of art history, I can tell you, that the pieces of art that really last, are not the ones with the best technical perfection, or accuracy, they are the ones with the most ":mood" and "sensitivity" and "expression of emotion" and "studies of light."The Mona Lisa? It's her "mood" and "expression", "lighting." It is when the artist captures a combination of feeling, and delicacy that you only can marvel at. That is really what we call "genius." Not particularly technical perfection or accuracy. Umm..have you ever seen a copy of Van Gogh's "The potato eaters"?(peasants eating a meager dinner.) I can name many others. I'm a descendent of Swiss, I tend to like Durer, and Rembrandt, and 15th century Flemish painting, but there are many Oriental, Japanese, Chinese masterpieces, and masters, too. Plenty of them. I've seen the Asian Museum in San Francisco, California,so I am associated with many Asian masterpieces. Years ago, I tried to study Chinese water colors;I loved it, but I was no master at it. I marvel at the huge Japanese or Chinese landscapes, usually on silk. Ok, ok, I'll stop rambling. I just wondered what art,and artists, you liked, and what ever influenced you.

I just wanted, also, to encourage you along the lines, of this picture, and I do not know if you realize how good it is. No one else here seems to catch onto it,but I am almost 60 years old,and I've seen a lot of art and artists. There are millions, literally billions of people who call themselves "artists",but in actuality, there are a mere handful who are truly good. A-hem, may I have your permission to have a copy of this picture? Do ever sell copies of any of your work? This is something I would like to have a copy of ,to eventually hang on my wall. --or on my computer. Ok, ok, I over did it,but I am very taken by it,and just had to let you know. I am sure other people on this site know you are good, and there are a lot of good artists on the Oekaki sites, but you definitely seem to be getting to be one of the best.

Don';t get a swelled head but ,you should know when you are good.I've been staring at this picture for at least a half hour, I still like it. ha ha.
Ok, sign me up for your fan club. Thanks for listening to me, Sumi, and please, keep up this good work. Umph! heh heh. I just LOVE this picture. (( ^ ^ )) Looking forward to seeing more of your work, in the future, whatever you do.

Thanks!!! sincerely, dorothyblueeyes, in Eugene, Oregon, USA, retired cartoonist, artist, and cooking teacher.

It's perfectly healthy to like Kingdom Hearts. I Mean, it's Disney! Really! I mean, When has Disney ever become a bad role model to people? Lol. Of course.. Square Enix might be a little on the 'iffy' side with their deep topics (I was surprised at how seriously in depth- emotionally- the story line was to KH2)
Amazing work! I really like how you added battle scars on them. omigwad you are wonderful at coloring. And your line art isn't bad either! :)

RO fanart, my friend's Gypsy, Michie, and her pet homunculus Lif. No bg, 'cause... yo' mom. D=
There was much AJODHN:LASJD:LJAS:DOJoauis;rojaskljdasing over this picture. A friend said her skin was too red, so I masked it blue, changed the opacity, erased all the masking except for the hair and the skin, was upset that I lost some of the dept, etc, etc. SO, here's the before and after the masking if you agree. =(
Anyway, after all that I think I'm finally out of my 6-9 month or so art rut. =) Huzzahs.

Elven ears + Romantic Leaf + Sunflower = hee hee!

The server I played on never managed to get homonuclia implimented, and that thing is so cute I wish they did. This is a nice spin on what gypsies look like, since the actual sprites are somewhat dull. The beads, sequins and actual color make her seem more alive.

Sumi @ Saturday, August 5th 2006, 11:03 PM
Ahaha, maybe you don't want them. It's insanely hard to get them. 5m for a stone, 30 cat's eyes, 20 star dusts, bapho egg, and sohee egg. And that's not even the hard part. To level them up so they "evolve" you need to make a whole 'nother egg and hope it's the same type you have. And not all of them are cute. XD I got this blob with eyes like a snail that I call Badass KillMachine Prototype 3000.

Ahahaha, frustration. I can sympathize! I've had times where I've been playing something and after trying to do something in the game, like, ELEVENTY MILLION TIMES it's like... 'I'm gonna go cry and sit in a corner now.'

How is Shadow of the Colossus, by the by?

*COUGH* Er, okay... I love the painterly feel of this. I also luuuuuurv the muted color palette and how fluid the fall is. Are those some aquaducts in the background there? Eh, the whole picture just flows right, you know.

Yes it is dying, it been dying for 2 years now. And it moderators are long gone too. So nobody been approving the new accounts for a long time. Would you like to be moderator? If you go through the new users every week, there is the chance of getting new blood from time to time. Or any other regular who want to be moderator, just post here and tell me.

Tigerhawk @ Friday, February 10th 2006, 1:00 AM
Wow, she looks African =D that's so cool! with nice white hair. The brown is a nice touch for the background as well. Very nicely done.

As for the oekaki, yeah I agree, mainly because I have the oekaki ruin my pictures time form time and that drives me nuts. Also there isn't any contests or such going on. I check the oekaki board everyday and there isn't much motivation going on which sucks. I say if Sumi can do it, more power to her! cause I'm sure she can motivate us artists and such =P

Annie Felis @ Friday, February 10th 2006, 1:11 AM
Actually that looks like your stereotypical drow female in casual clothes, whether you're talking Drowtales or Forgotten Realms. I think she looks pretty good.

As for the board, I wandered back here because my board is dead. I made a rule that people couid only apply if they could show that they could draw better than a 7-year-old's level, and well....either people didn't submit pictures when applying, or they really DID draw like 7-year-olds (I'm not makng this up). Either way, all the people at my board have moved on, so I came here in hopes of seeing some activity. Kinda sad that nothing is going on here.

Sumi @ Friday, February 10th 2006, 6:53 AM

I've always liked your really soft style, and this is no exception. She has this strange wild beauty to her, like a feline at rest who could, at any moment, stand up and claw your face off.

Ven @ Sunday, February 12th 2006, 6:01 AM
I love shading done in browns. They're almost always sexy. I also really love the hair. The arm is really off though; the top section isn't long enough, the mid section doesn't really connect to anything, and on the hand, the palm is a little to long. But I do like the right shoulder, it lines up with the clavacle; the left sholder doesn't really though. The lips are beautifully done. I especially love the shading on the top left of them.

Sumi @ Sunday, February 12th 2006, 1:23 PM
The hand goes with the right (our right) arm, and the lower part of the arm that is crossed over goes with the left (our left) arm.... if that makes any sense. XD

Arisu @ Monday, February 13th 2006, 7:34 PM
Fishsticks, I thought I commented on this one. This has a nice painted feel to it, and everything is absolutely beautiful. Love the face especially. So much detail on those lips alone.. yet you manage to keep the entire picture looking so clean.

Pooky @ Thursday, February 16th 2006, 10:02 AM
Aw, lovely tones! I really like the overall feeling of it. The hair and nails make a nice contrast with the rest of the drawing. I love the gold parts with the chocolate brown.
The only thing that bothers me is that the hands looks slightly too long.

This is such pretty fanart. Mishi's character looks so sweet as she's reading her recipe book. I love the details you put into this. The cookbook looks worn and well used. I like that you put diagrams onto the pages, it gives the book realism.

darkrose @ Saturday, January 29th 2005, 10:32 PM
I love how many details you pay attention to. Things like the textures of everything from metal to wood to leather to terrycloth and paper, the lighting (complete with little dust speckles giving the room a very homely feel), the composition (something interesting in every part of the picture but the lines and general focus are drawn to the main figure {or perhaps the book...}). This feels like a real place that really exists, which I think is important in a good picture. Helps people relate to it more. If I could critique anything at all it would be her face.. it appears that her chin is tilded down, her focus is on the book, and everything about her posture indicates the tilting of the chin except her hair, which still seems to be in the position of a fully level chin. Maybe if you took the hairline down a little bit it would help, but only if that was indeed what you were going for. Like I said, this is fantastic. Excellent work.

Wow! This is so great. And I have to mention again that you are one of my favorite artists. Yeah.. I always always love your art. The detail in this one is soooo amazing.
I mean wow, from the stains on the towel and the writing in the book, to the folded peieces of paper in it and the planking on the wood. Even the knives have a lot of detail~
I love her pose and expression. And her outfit! Especially the sleeves. I want some like that now.
The background is beautiful. and you can even see the particals of dust in the sunlight~ I think this is one of my favorites of yours.~

Queen_Godzilla @ Saturday, March 5th 2005, 12:08 AM
Man, I seriously can't find anything wrong with this.

It's a very strong composition. Gypsy girl isn't standing around staring off into space, she's tying on an apron and getting ready to cook. It has implied action!

Not only that, but the textures. My. GOD. The slats on the wooden table, the fluffy towel, the crackled pages, her be-wrinkled clothes, the glass jars, the motes and the light! Holy HELL, Sumi.

Ah, I found something -- the window light should reflect more on the surrounding area. Including gypsy. Other than, that... DAMN.

Totchi @ Friday, May 27th 2005, 8:23 PM

Pshhh Sumi, You have a style.
I could tell your artwork from a mile away. Ok well not a mile, my eyes arent that good, I'd have to be close up, but you get the point. x3
This profile, is... wow.. amazing. First off. I really like the profile, and then the goggles things, and how they have the shine on them. I can never get that to work, it always looks funny.
I also LOVE the hair.Just the way its colored is grand. Coarse I always like your coloring. Then I like the sun in the back, and the clouds, it looks sooo realistic.
^^-puts on a 'I <3 Sumi' shirt over.. alll other shirts that are stolen with phrases on them- Shirts that say stuff rock. I need a shirt that says that.
Anyway, this is grand. And im never gonna get over that profile. It is sooo good. o.o;

darkrose @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 6:46 AM
ooh pretty! You did a really great job fitting the character into the background, using the right color scheme and lighting design to really make this flow. It's also beautifully composed, with some truly lovely effects. The goggles seem to be a little off, but I'm not sure how, it's just the angle of the tilt of the face and the goggles don't seem to match. Hard to explain, and it might just be me being silly. Fantastic image.

Starisan @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 4:22 PM
Wow, this is very mysterious. Reminds me of an adventurer looking to the goal. Beautiful technique. I love the sort of amber lighting of sunset (or rise). The hair is so detailed...amazing. I love it.

oni shi @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 7:06 PM
mmmmm sumi u love my style and i love urs hehe, i love his goggles O.o and the lightsing is done so well, i think my fav part of ur drawings is u thin smooth lineart :) *huggles*

Lady_Sea @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 8:52 PM
Oh my. The coloring in this is really superb. The first thing that caught my attention was the googles and the background. I really like the reflection/light effect in the goggles. You really captured the effect well. Before I move onto the background, another thing I want to point out that I like is the hair. It has the beautifully done flowing look to it, as wind were to be brushing through it. And as for the background, that sunset is just gorgeous! I like how you made the light of the sun wobbly through the atmosphere of the sky. You really accomplished that gracefully. Brilliant work.

Carbuncle @ Saturday, January 8th 2005, 10:21 PM
ohh wow this pice is just so... good!! I love it I dunno why but it remindes me of a AlBhed from FFX... mayhapps it's the goggles? I dunno but I love the city of in the distance its so solem!! I love it keep it up!

Kari Maxwell @ Sunday, January 9th 2005, 7:31 AM
Wow... this really reminds me of Jak 3 for some reason. I think it's the colours and how they blend together so well. I don't know if anyone else sees it, but in the sand area, just below that dome building thing, in the shading... I swear I see a body theer... And it looks like a football player or something. lol I'm a dork for mentioning it, but I swear to you I see it.

KHatch @ Tuesday, January 11th 2005, 6:45 AM
Holy hell, Sumi!
Can I leave it at that?
Fine. I LOVE your BG skills. And the profile. Wow. And the shiny goggles. And the flowing hair.

catboi incubus mishi @ Saturday, January 15th 2005, 4:33 PM
Sumi Sumi Sumi. I love your art so much. <333333333 I quite like this image, everything about it is wonderful. I love the way his/her hair flows in the wind, the clouds, and the green dome off in the distance. You always make me feel so crappy at art. XD;

Queen_Godzilla @ Sunday, February 6th 2005, 4:57 AM
Oo, tres futuristic. I love the sunset and the lighting effect it produces. It makes everything glow. Nice background details. Very nonchalant. :D
