Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

May or may not end up putting color on this. Probably not since I don't much like how my colors tend to turn out.

Started and finished off to Adele's "Rumor Has It", hence title. Hell I was lazy on the lineart, why not go all out and be lazy on the title too?

Felt the urge to doodle, thought it might be fun to make a pit stop here since I haven't been around for...hell, we'll just say a while.

So uh, a doodle of the most likely singular variety, with my usual addition of "I don't really want to color this, but it looks too plain as just lines" level of dedication.

...Sakhmet got a little upgrade...update...up your ass with garden statuary. Whatever. The point is...shiny and new stylings of an old character.

Right now I have the energy to do no more. 9 hours spent at work fighting with a photolab server and getting yelled at constantly can do that. Though I'll be doing that for the next two days, but I'll try to get this done at some point soonish anyway.

Ahh retail during the holiday season...fuck you in the ear with a garden gnome...>.>

First of all, I apologize for the craptacular wii-mote and nunchuck. My memory sucks, I know. lol But so long as you all get the point of what they are, I suppose it's really not much of an issue.

...Sakhmet here is having some problems. Problems with her Wii. Not only can that wii-mote become a projectile of mass destruction, but apparently the 'mote and 'chuck are easily angered and have traits of the boa constrictor. I just thought you should all be warned...y'know, before it happens to you...

It's another of my mighty OCs. Hee hee, reminmds me of my cat, giving me a dead bluejay, cause he likes me for feeding him. "Oh, master, please eat this." Good sense of humour, I value that. The thing about line art and art that is more dependent on "volume" is that if you use great volume, lots of mass, shading,,you do not need so much line. And,if you have great line art,you do not need so much shading, dark colors, and lots of paint. With good line art,you can just "tint" or "detail" parts, to indicate color; the line art,and it'ss tyle, stand mostly on it's own. I think that is the secret of some of our great line-art artists, and their style, on this site(and others)_.

Sometimes the urge for fancy-pants lineart just takes the driver's seat. Colors are thrown out the window, and otherwise attention stealing notions are dropped off to goodwill.

We won't have any of this other junk taking away from the simple lines. Oh we shan't stand for it! In fact we abhor it. We demand a recount, yes we do.

Coloring this was part of the initial plan, but I ended up liking the lineart by itself, and why halfass the colors and end up not liking it? Why indeed. A waste of time I say! Yes...a waste.

Well since I am my own hellishly particular critic:

Tigerhawk, oh there's lots of things wrong with this. Light sourcing being on of those many things. lol Naal'suul I'm fine with...it's Chirinide I'm not so pleased with. Her face is much longer than Naal's...her colors just look funky...there's no depth to her hair to speak of...not enough shine to her hair, I forgot her forehead mark (not to mention Naal's nose & earring combo, and her headdress thingy thing), and much much more. lol

My lack of digital drawing as of late isn't helping matters either.

Well I'm not a perfectionist with other people's artwork and I don't know what they're thinking when they draw so I get kinda...clueless what to say because I don't know whether they already know what they did....ya. That's what makes my criticing(sp?) terrible. Cause like you were pointing out everything you found wrong, ya know, I don't want my head to be bitten off by the artist and have them say, "I already know that stupid" or something like that so I focus mainy on what I see is good unless I find a urge to correct something, y'know? With my art I'm a perfectionist, but...if I want to do better in my art I have to be a bit lax with my self and set lower expectations of my art than before. High but not to high just to were I slowly graduate. I've only been drawing for 5-6 years and freelancing at it. While you on the other hand....I donno, proably longer than me (way longer maybe) and way more experienced. So, ya...that's why I say the stuff I do. I'm happy for you that you want to do better, that's very cool. Just keep in mind I'm not the best of critics out there XD hmmm...donno know what else to say...my mind wander away again.

Chinh @ Saturday, July 23rd 2005, 7:22 PM
whoaaa.....=o if you haven't pointed out the flaws yourself I wouldn't have noticed XD I'm not good critic either.....unfortunately...LOL luv your style, you're so good with the highlight thingy also and always so detailed (^__^)/ this piccy is just so beautiful and funny also LOL lovely job on the expressions

...so I'm playing through Final Fantasy 9 again...yes, the forgotten Final Fantasy. Pushed aside by the pretty graphics (and just bad story) of 8 and rumors of 10. Everytime Final Fantasy is mentioned...it's about 7, 8, or 10. RARELY is 9 ever mentioned. And that's truly sad...a game with an AWFUL story like 8 gets love (die Rinoa die, I'm tired of saving your stupid ass...)...and 9 is just shoved under the rug.

And so I give you colored Freya. Wait what? Harlequin FINISHED SOMETHING?! Shocking I know. I've had this thing with digital art lately, anything digital I can't seem to finish. Gimme a piece of paper and I'll finish anything. So this was more than a little forced. But it's not too bad...though that one arm seems to have it's own light source...lol Ignore that. XD!!

Sumi @ Sunday, July 10th 2005, 9:38 AM
So awesome. =D I have the artbook for 9, but I've never actually played the game. Your lineart looks beautiful so far. I can't wait to see this when it's finished. =3

olsie @ Sunday, July 10th 2005, 5:37 PM
Aww...I liked FF8 just because it was romancy...but of course..I never played it, I just watched my friend and let her describe storyline and such.
I've only seen alittle of FF9 like most FF's. Never play em..just watched. This character was interesting and pretty cool looking by first sight. ^_^ That line art must've been a slight pain to do.. o_o looks great!

Segzhan @ Monday, July 11th 2005, 6:09 PM
I am crazy about that pic. I must understand how you can draw and color like that.

As for the final fantasy debate...

Personally, I like the 8th better than the 9th. And I'm not biased by critics, heck, I only discovered final fantasy last year when I bought a Playstation. Anyway, I liked FFVIII mainly because of the character customization. That part was truly good. Final fantasy IX was poor on that level. I don't say it wasn't good, no, Kuja especially kicked severe asses, and I just LOVED Freya and the little moogle girl (you probably guessed, I'm a moogle maniac afterall). But Final Fantasy VIII remains my favorite.

The moogle has spoken and just love this pic. *saves with her other pics of Freya*

eep!! Freya is my fave charrie in FF9 and well, you drew her really well. The shading is very nice and the BG is a little bland, but it goes nicely with the nature of Freya.... ^_^ nice work

windblade @ Wednesday, June 1st 2005, 12:41 AM
damn. I need that shirt. I'll ambush her in a dark alley to get it if I need to!

I like the suggestion of wings in the background! It's an effect I've tried once or twice already, really nice.

you're so good with anatomy...great job on that and I luv how you make the shadings looking all smooth...yes...the shirt rocks!...but...if I were to mug her or anything I'd like to know where she put her schampoo...XD I want my hair lookin all shiney and beautiful like that! LOL

Psychoferret @ Saturday, June 4th 2005, 1:23 AM
Nice. Perspective. Aaaah! Yesh. x_x

Anyway, I love the way its turned out. I like the wingy things in the background, and the simple pose. It looks very nice! I do have a question, though... when you do your lineart, the black... do you use watercolor? What tool do you use to get that smooth, smooth outline?

Harlequin @ Saturday, June 4th 2005, 7:52 PM
Yeah, I use black watercolor for my lines, with opacity generally at the default for one pixel, 241, though sometimes I do use 245. Suprisingly that little difference in number makes a pretty drastic one when you're working.

Prismatic @ Wednesday, June 15th 2005, 4:55 PM
Hehe.. this is so great. I really love their t-shirt. Very nice shading in it as well. Then again I love greens.~ As always you do a fantastic job with anatomy. Her pose is so great. And their hair is truely amazing.~~ And of course the eyes, the different shades of red in them and the hint of shadow on their lids gives them so much depth. As has been mentioned previously the hint of wings is really great as well~

Alright...so I'm not dead...I've just been so damn busy between school and work.

I took a completely different route with this. I just started doodling, as I so often do. Then somewhat liked the doodle. So I lightened up the lines and decided to go for a 'painted' style. It's alright, not great, not amazing. But it'll suffice. The ear looks silly because there's not a lot of color depth to it, but other than that...I somewhat like this.

At least I think I do...

shes very coool!

Prismatic @ Monday, April 25th 2005, 8:13 PM
Oh! I hardly ever see you do art pieces to make them look like paintings. This is really pretty. I like it alot, and I could tell just by looking at it that it was something that you'd done.
She's very pretty, I like the way it seems you can see pencil lines beneath her, and with the color of the background this almost reminds me of something rendered in oil pastels. I really like the softness of her hair as well~~

christabel @ Thursday, April 28th 2005, 6:11 PM

I realize my last oekaki, "Spiders" is still sans background, so technically not done, but I'm really drawing a blank on that one. I'll hopefully get it officially finished soon...along with playing a rousing round of "comment catch-up". I like games. XD!!

I really like the detail in the hair. I still can't do that. nice use of lighting and shading.

darkrose @ Monday, February 14th 2005, 11:25 PM
Right. Girl. I knew that. This came out fantastic, the pose is excellent and the shading/lineart is so smooth.. the strands of hair are captivating, and the epression is quite amusing. It's your hands that really stand out to me, though... they're just amazing. The hands and the anatomy of her back, both. My only comment would be something about the back arm, how it folds. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it seems somehow not right... dang, wish I could be more helpful, say something other than 'wow' but I guess it just wasn't meant to be <{^.^}>

Starisan @ Tuesday, February 15th 2005, 2:13 PM
OOO, this i seriouly awesome and creepy. I really like the position, you did a very good job with perspective on the limbs. I think the tufts t the end of the ears are a nice touch because they keep the color scheme going and the eyes moving.

Prismatic @ Sunday, February 20th 2005, 1:35 AM
Yaay you added a background! Really nice one even. The planks fit so well together~
Absolutly wonderful job on the shading. You always do a great job on that, but this one is particualry well done... as well as terrific line work. Her hair is magnificant. I really love the pose as well! Her anatomy is great~

Queen_Godzilla @ Saturday, March 5th 2005, 1:10 AM
I tried to check, but I couldn't find anything, so... I'll just go with what I can assume here. I am currently assuming that Verre is a girl. (I know that Sakmet is. Holy jibblies, maybe Verre IS a guy? I dunno!)

Well, if Verre was/is a girl you SHOULD be able to see part of her breast between her chin and her shoulder there. It's because gravity and her posture would cause breasts to fall forward. Now, I know you don't want to make it outright porn, but... eh.

And if it's not a girl, then... just keep that tidbit for future reference XD

Other than that... DAMN. XD You're putting a lot of work into the hair and the floor. Good job! I really, really love the hair -- it's my favorite color and it's really shiny too.

I always liked how you did eyes.

Very predatory pose. X3
