Drowkaki was finally upgraded to Poteto 5.1 then to Wax Poteto. A much needed upgrade after so many years without change and with all these bugs plaguing us. We had to trash our custom MODS but it seem that wax poteto include some of the stuff we had. Avatar(go in your profile) and picture uploading. It also come with some new features as well. The most important one is to be able to re-touch everything, including SHI-PAINTER pictures , non animated oekaki and uploaded stuff. I'm sorry we didn't do this upgrade sooner. Now the board is pretty much lifeless, but i hope now that approving new accountsl became optional, that some life will return around here on this fantasy-only oekaki board.

okey-dokey. about done with this one. she's Cinainon, a shadowyn. Shadowyns are a race i created not long ago, to sort of serve as antagonist in a story i created. They are a peculiar race, almost nothing is known about them except the decorations where ears would be may denote rank. their bodies are not solid, they are slightly vaporous. they appear at dusk and night, hiding in the shadows. their quirky mask-like faces are decoys, their real faces have never been seen except for an exceptionally large mouth filled with shark-like teeth.

i recently drew a hole bunch of these guys for an Illustration class, 6 as circus characters. ended up looking very tim burton-y.

catboi incubus mishi @ Sunday, February 27th 2005, 8:28 PM
What a pretty, evil thing! <333

You know, I really like the concept behind this. And of course the execution, well that's just snazzy. The lineart is nice and smooth LOVE that. The hair is shaded ever so nicely, and the tiny spikes really give it a nice sense of the jaggedness to it. Very lovely. The ear bits...they remind me of this really funky pair of earmuffs I saw once. lol The colors used make them stand out just enough, but not too much. The whole 'alternate face' idea, well not only do I like that, but I've used it in the past myself. Come to think of it I just found one of those old sketches last week while cleaning my room. lol In any event I really like that blue eyeshadow, and the style of the eyes is very nice. Choosing to not draw the bottom of the eyes in, and just imply them was definately the way to go. The smile...well, that just makes me smile in an oh so very evil way. Wonderful expression to the mask face. The body being solid black is a bit of a bold move graphically, but with the yellow/orange background I think you've really managed to pull it off here. The arm to the left side of the canvas appears a little shaky, especially on the side closest to the body. The arm on the right side of the canvas though, that is just well done. The proportion looks accurate, and that hand. That is a DAMN NICE hand. The slightly differing thickness to the lines really accentuates that fist, and the lines where the knuckles would be really add a nice sense of detail. Very well done piece, I really like it, especially the little backstory. Draw more of this little 'species' sometime, I'd love to see what more of them look like.

kyokurrychan @ Monday, February 28th 2005, 1:16 PM
ooh, she looks cool. and relatively evil. ^_^ how enjoyable.

Prismatic @ Tuesday, March 1st 2005, 9:08 PM
Neato conceptness. Hehe.. I love Tim Burton. That must have been a groovy art project.
I like the swirly mass of color in the background of this. And of course the subject is great. Very nice lineart, love the mask like expression. And the hint of eyes on their shirt? That's pretty groovy. Nifty ear decorations as well.
I'm really liking their hand and eyes, those are my favorite parts I believe. And the subtle shading in the hair.~~

darkrose @ Wednesday, March 2nd 2005, 1:31 PM
Nifty. Her face reminds me of the Joker... which I'm sure isn't the intention, but it rocks anyway. That grin, those eyes, the shading is simply wonderful, and the anatomy is sound. This is very stylistic and overall very nifty, with great texture and I rather like the minimalistic shading.

mazilwolf @ Wednesday, March 2nd 2005, 3:14 PM
looks uber evil!!! *shudders* wouldn't like to meet her on a dark night!!! =\ teh hair tones are really good and look like you can see all teh strands of hair. teh hand is awesome!! (i'm lame at drawing hands lol) but yeah, teh mask two face idea is really good.

Neko Girl Star @ Wednesday, March 2nd 2005, 6:26 PM
this is so cool...I LOVE the hair...the eyes look so perfect and the expression is awsome...I like the hand too...the BG could have a little more work, but it still looks amazing

kyasha @ Sunday, March 6th 2005, 6:12 PM
Wonderful! I love the way light orange and black look good together! Love his smile :)

Mouse @ Wednesday, March 9th 2005, 8:19 PM
This's an interesting one. I take it the hair's part of the mask as well? Gives one a whole new look at facemasks! The ear ornaments are a neat idea, can't think of anything else offhand that denotes rank in such a way.

Queen_Godzilla @ Tuesday, April 12th 2005, 5:26 PM
I like the contrast present in this piece. You put a bunch of neutral colors against a warm-colored busy background. It really sets each part in front with an equal presentation.

Nice facial and body proportions, looks like everything's even (except the huge mouth, but that's how they are so I'm not counting off points or anything *LOLz*.) The solid black was a good design decision in my opinion. Very modern art-y. It also conveys their shadow side. The expression is nice as well.

I don't see anything I can really critique, so YAY! :D

Wow. That's really good. Tablets are great, ne? The colors, and shading are very nice. It's blended so well, and..everything! XD I like the BG, it looks like water, and it's also blended nicely. ^_^

olsie @ Saturday, February 26th 2005, 11:22 PM
I really liked how you started your other one...I hope you do another solids work soon!
This one turned out great as well... Fancy hair and nicely chosen colors! Lookin forward to seeing more from yew :3

Prismatic @ Sunday, February 27th 2005, 12:56 AM
welcome back to the board! You shouldn't drift away for like eons again.~
I really like the fading colors of blue in the background of this picture. Not to mention I usually like a sort of aquamarine tone. It's super great contrast for the red shirt they're wearing~
The highlights on the skin are great. She has a lot of depth there, and it seems you succesfully carried the light source through out the picture.~

Ikena @ Sunday, February 27th 2005, 6:14 PM
Welcome to drowkaki! =3
I really like her hair and the shading! so nice!
its a good kaki to havent done any in 5 years! =]

Harlequin @ Monday, February 28th 2005, 2:52 AM
Not bad for a first oekaki using a tablet. A few little lineart things keep jumping out at me, but I'll attribute the varying thickness to tablet crankiness. I really like the color scheme, the teal background with her bright orange head tie thingy, as well as those orange eyes and that super red shirt. Very nice. The shading for the most part seems a bit segmented, but it looks more like soft cel-style shading than anything really. The hair turned out very nice, and using blue to shade light hair always looks nice. Very interesting piece, now I wonder what that first one looked like. lol

Hello and welcome! Excellent pic, too... such lovely anatomy and shading it's quite beautiful to behold. I especially love how you lay the halter over her collarbone, that's a difficult effect to achieve and a detail that adds a new dimention of realism to pictures, even cartoon ones. Kudos. And once again, welcome!

mazilwolf @ Wednesday, March 2nd 2005, 3:08 PM
i love teh shading it looks realistic and is smooth =D its really really kool!!! her ears are really kinda furry-looking. =3

Neko Girl Star @ Wednesday, March 2nd 2005, 9:52 PM
